I called to place an order and when l got there, they said they forgot to place it. Really? Poor experience overall. Much better options all over the place.
This my first restaurant review. Started the evening after Mother's Day at Vito's Pizza in Berlin but they were closed. My friend and I continued driving all the way to Ocho Cafe in West Hartford/Bloomfield at my suggestion since we had been there several times. Once we arrived, we phoned in our order which came to over $79.00 for 3 meals and a couple sides. I remember the drive to Ocho. It was a beautiful, breezy evening. We talked about how much we enjoyed their food and service. What a 180° turnaround. I went inside to pick up the order, which the front-end girl had trouble finding. I paid for the 2 orders but noticed the table that used to be by the reception desk, was replaced with an old nasty looking sofa. The table is where they used to put the to-go orders. I happened to look on the far side as a male server was passing by and asked if he could check to see if that was my order. He verified what I had ordered with the ticket on the bag and payment before releasing the order to me. Still agood evening. As I placed the bag in the vehicle, I noticed only one bag of nachos. I said, to my friend, "I'm going back in to ask them about it." Which she advised against then said go, considering how much the food costs. I went inside but no hostess was there. I saw the Manager and went over to ask him. He said "we only give one bag of chips." I said, "well actually we ordered 3 meals and every time we've come here, we received a bag per meal. " the manager immediately became argumentative and raised his voice, telling me he had been there 5 years. I told him several times, "it's alright" and even held up a peaceful hand as I looked over my shoulder at the people who then lined up behind me. I must say, I have never felt so belittled and embarrassed. The manager treated me like a pan handler and a liar. Im not desperate for chips or I could've saved the 45 minute trip, the gas, AND the $79 and gone to the grocery store. This 5-year manager didn't even recognize a great big ol'black woman as a repeat customer who had on occasion, tipped his uppity self. Arrived home. Couldnt enjoy the meal. Mushy enchiladas, tasteless guacamole, and I could buy better rice from a box. All of this was confirmation really, because I had decided as the girl was looking for my order in the beginning. that I wouldn't be back. Somehow the lighting in Ocho was brighter than previous visits, illuminating all the graven images and things that didn't agree with my spirit. So, although I was treated terribly, my eyes were opened in the darkness and for that I am grateful. The place is creepy, with all that witchcraft paraphernalia, it's priced WAY too high (beans and rice are the cheapest foods you can buy). The place needs a sho-nuff thorough cleaning. I which I could give no stars. They also need to think along the lines of "the customer is always right." This philosophy has helped build countless businesses in this country, that still exist today.
The waitress Sol was super friendly and attentive. The food was excellent. I would definitely recommend this place. Oh yeah the inside is awesome and the music was on point.
Great food n strong drinks..great service and staff..
Very attentive and helpful staff at this large and noisy restaurant. Lots of kids and families, groups of friends, etc. The guacamole is excellent and custom made from a cart at your table. A bit pricey, but worth it. The menu is a bit short on vegan options. The staff were very nice about trying to assist with this and we ended up with a chopped salad and a rice bowl. Both the rice bowl and the cilantro dressing tasted suspiciously sweet and may have had sugar or agave - - not sure, but worth asking about if you're sensitive to sugar. If you're a meat eater and noise and crowds don't affect you, then maybe worth a visit, otherwise it might be better to find a quieter place. Recommended, with qualifications.
Long-time customer and these are the worst nachos I’ve ever purchased. $14 and mostly chips. Hardly any beans, cheese or chicken. They forgot the guacamole. I picked this up on my very short lunch break and have a long day ahead of me with a container of expensive chips. I called and the person answering the phone was not very polite. Not sure if I’ll be back again.
YUMMY FOOD! ? GREAT VIBES! ? How could you not enjoy yourself at a Mexican restaurant?!We started with the queso fundido and boneless wings. Queso fundido was a bit cold, so the cheese wasn’t... cheesy? It was kind of strange because it’s served on a small skillet, so you would assume it would be hot and cheesy. It wasn’t. More so just a block of cheese we had to break up with a spoon. That was one of my concerns. My other concern was with our server. She already seemed a bit irritable when she approached us. So when we had questions about the menu, she made us feel as though we were inconveniencing her.Nonetheless, the other staff that checked on us were very sweet. And the boneless wings were AMAZING! They were sooooo crispy and the buffalo sauce is TO DIE FOR! I could have simply ordered the wings as my meal and I would’ve been happy. For our entrees, we ordered tacos a la carte because we wanted to try one of everything. They were very good. My favorites were the tacos al pastor and the chicken taco. I did feel like portions were a bit small considering the price, compared to other local mexican restaurants. But again the food and ambiance is great. Overall, my experience was nice! ☺️
AMAZING! This restaurant was not only absolutely beautiful inside it serves delicious food as well. The customer service was phenomenal, they sat us down immediately, brought us waters, chips and salsa and they kept checking in making sure we were satisfied with our food. I 100% recommend if you love mexican food, want to have a nice meal and view.
The food was great here. And we loved the atmosphere except for the incredibly startling birthday songs. Omg! Nearly had a heartache both times in one visit.
Very Friendly staff and great food, on some days they've got live music playing. Guac cart on demand, great drinks and one if the best tres leches in town!
