The place was crowded, but there was plenty of seating outside, which is what we wanted anyway. They've got outside seating out back as well, which would probably be quieter than the tables or front.Staff was friendly and reasonably quick.Try the tuna tartare tacos. Spicy, crunchy, gooey, I'm getting hungry writing this review.Spent $50/person. I had two appetizers rather than an appetizer and a main. That was a good choice, portions are large (and I'm a 230 lb guy) and mains are $35-40/plate.The front doesn't look like much, but that doesn't matter, does it?
I have been in and around Wallingford for many years and there has never been a time when the food or the service left me wanting. You can randomly choose a dish off of the menu and you can almost guarantee it will be fantastic. Servers come and go in the restaurant business over the course of many years and Michael seems to have great ability to pick conscientious and capable staff consistently. It really is our "go to" place. The atmosphere is just right and it's comfortable with any pretentiousness.
Every time I have been there I have had the best experience. The food the atmosphere and the friendship is always there.
The food and atmosphere was definately great! I highly recommend making a reservation especially on a weekend. We sat in the small room off the bar which was nice with 4 other tables in the room. We ordered drinks chocolate martini and a center street ipa. We ordered dinner, chicken marsala with angel hair pasta(the pasta was a special that night), chicken and artichoke withangel hair pasta, penne al vodka with chicken and finally 12oz new york strip steak. All meals came with salad or soup, warm garlic bread for the table. Food was excellent and well prepared. Only downside was the room we were in was close to the bar which was standing room only in there. Also they only serve pizza in the bar area not in the dinnin rooms.
Delicious food. Great service. Such a comfortable place to go to, very relaxing!
As is typical, the pizza was delicious. The beer was beautifully chilled.Service was welcoming as well as thorough.Always an excellent place if these are the things matter. As they should.
I had an awful experience coming back to Connecticut to help my elderly aunt who recently suffered a severe stroke. Not knowing the area, I Googled Italian restaurants near me and got Michael's Trattoria.Let me tell you, when I went to pick up the food, the restaurant was busy, and the music was great.I had the Rigatoni Bolognese and it was AMAZING!!I want to give a special thank you to Maria, who went above and beyond to make the end of my day a pleasure. I had an absolutely awful trip back to Connecticut and she made me smile. She's awesome and Michael's Trattoria is lucky to have such a wonderful, caring person working for them!
Excellent...excellent...excellentQuiet atmosphere, great staff, didn't have to wait long for our food. The waitress went above and beyond to make us happy. This restaurant enlarged itself by purchasing what was my father's luncheonette. So it was an extra edition to compensate for the volume of people that go there..MMMMM
Love coming here for lunch. When it's nice out sidewalk dining provides plenty of people watching. Lunch specials are amazing and everything is tasty. Their plain red sauce is fantastic. Friendly.
Food was good, but my return to Michael‘s was disappointing. Waitress turned away as I was telling her what app I wanted and she took the entire order of other table of four women who were seated after us. Didn‘t compensate by giving us any kind of extra attention throughout the night… (she was not new to this job)…no check in the folder, forgets water blames on bus boy, long delay for food, cappuccino. Waits and clears two other tables who arrived after us. Wanted to impress my friend, but was embarrassed!
