Trying the local establishments we gave J Carvers a try. The main menu was extensive so we settled on the bar menu which was quite diverse. The burgers and chicken sandwiches were the best, fries were done to perfection, my espresso martini was exceptional. If your looking for some great food give J Carvers a try, I highly recommend it.

The most underrated restaurant in CT in my opinion. The food is always good, the service is spectacular and the owner is such a hard working, brilliant and friendly person. You can tell he works his butt off to help his team. Having been in the industry for a long time, it’s so nice to see. It’s no wonder the staff seem so loyal to him and the rules he sets in place. This was made evident when both bartenders turned down an offer of a shot simply stating that “they just don’t do that here”. It’s awesome to see that level of professionalism and poise. I hope they grow to be extremely successful and I think they definitely will. Other restaurants in the area just can’t compete. The steak crostini makes me come back every time. I’m pretty sure I have dreams about that particular menu item ahaha. Do yourself a favor and stop in, you’ll be pleasantly surprised
ZERO STARS! Just tonight… was heading to Michaels for a bite. Decided to check out J Carvers as we had not been there since it opened. At 3:54 we entered the open door and sat at the bar. The bartender came over and said “we’re not open for six minutes”. I got the feeling she was expecting us to go outside for 6 minutes. When we didn’t get up, she offered us water. Sooooo, you can pour me a water but not a drink (which would not be illegal) ?!? I said I was sorry but the door was open… evidently customers are supposed to know that it’s only open for vendors who they pay not paying customers. We decided to leave and bartender was not phased. At Michaels at the bar at 3:58… cocktail in hand. Food at J Carver could be epic…. But I will NEVER know.
I guess I had high expectations, as I should have since this is, after all, a chop house. Steaks are their specialty, right?! We chose to celebrate VALENTINES DAY here. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! My husband sent his back, without a replacement offered and mine was under-done, and not a nice piece, and the whipped mashed potatoes were 100% day-old and dry... I paid $38 for my meal and his was taken off the bill. Filet is the only steak I ever order so to see this and know what I paid, I am not happy. It was not a $38 meal.

My wife and I went here for the first time last week and it was awesome. The atmosphere in the dining room was really nice and everything we had was great. I'd like to hang out in the bar area soon. Definitely would recommend.
