The owner's son was actually my second grade assistant teacher, but that isn't the only reason I like Trips'. The food is great, the ambient is great and the service is great. There's a bar and delicious and I mean delicious desserts. 10/10 would 100% recommend if you're visiting or maybe nearby it's a go to place for my family.
Ate here for the first time. Very good food. The food is mostly prime rib, steak, fish, seafood, chicken, veal, salads, and pasta. My pasta with mussels and clams was excellent. Very good service, and very nice owner.
Unexpectedly had Soft Shell Crabs as a special the evening we dined here. HUGE! They were pan seared which meant they were not dried out from frying and not greasy from pan sautéing. My husband enjoyed the Veal francaise was on the regular menu. The accompanying pasta only had the francaise sauce on it, no heavy red sauce to ruin the flavor. Perfect dirty gin martinis.
This is an old school restaurant and I mean that in a good way. At one time there were many restaurants serving good basic food, well prepared and at a good price. Today there are not many left. The service was very informal but attentive and prompt. The menu options were many of the old classics, well prepared with quality ingredients. The prices were good. I didn't give it 5 stars because of the deserts, they were out of many choices and the one we had, cheesecake, was not up to the standard of the rest of the meal. We will definitely be back.
highly recommend Trips Restaurant on Hope St.it’s family owned, amazing food and their drinks & signature homemade desserts were delicious. the staff is friendly and attentive. we were not rushed at all. thank you to the staff who made us feel welcomed. we can’t wait to go back!
We decided at the last minute to go toTrips and we did not have a reservation. The staff were so understanding and were able to accommodate us fortunately. The food was excellent, the service meticulous, it is a rare gem to experience these days and we will return often.
My husband and I live up the street from Trips so naturally we had to try it out. We always see them packed on the weeks and at holidays. So if you’re considering going, definitely make an appointment to guarantee a table. We’ve never had issues making reservations. Their food is always great and their staff are so fun and so sweet! I even asked our server (I’m sorry I don’t remember her name) for help deciding on what to get and she had great feedback.
Top Notch Restaurant !! Me and my wife’s favorite from the excellent service to the like No other food. Every single thing on the menu is delicious and made to perfection. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation asap!

Service to die for…If you’ve been looking for that rare restaurant that makes you feel special and has excellent food- Trips Restaurant is the one. Thank you to the Owner who went out of his way to make us feel welcome, it was most appreciated. Even though we don’t live in the area, this is absolutely our go to restaurant anytime we visit the Stamford area.
