First time visiting Stamford and this hotel. Visiting with family and we were booked into this hotel, which I was told was the best hotel in Stamford. Walking into the hotel, I cannot believe I’m in a Marriott property. Check in was swift enough and very friendly. In short order we received our room keys and we took ourselves up the lift to find our room. Lobby and lifts are so incredibly tired and worn. Everything is in desperate need of a massive renovation. Going down the dreary corridor, we entered our even drearier room that was in a horrific condition. There is just no other way of describing it. Dark, old and so very worn. Every single piece of furniture was dinged, dented, scratched or badly chipped. Carpets are stained and fraying, entrance of the room was in bathroom tiles. King size bed was saggy and lumpy, sheets were so worn out, crumpled and had pills on them. Made me seriously doubt its cleanliness. The duvet wasn’t properly wrapped in the sheets, a corner was peeking out, and guys, it’s grey. Spare pillow left in the wardrobe wasn’t sealed in plastic, the pillow case didn’t smell or look freshly laundered either. Toilet was more of the same. Nice toiletries by this works and in large bottles so at least we won’t run out. Towels at least looks fresh and clean. Needless to say, it wasn’t a particularly comfortable bed to be sleeping in. Coffee maker with complimentary coffee and tea and paper cups. Coffee machine didn’t look particularly clean and the water reservoir still contained water. Breakfast was surprisingly good and a high point of our stay. Minerva is a gem and looked after us so well! We indulged in the buffet which included a diy waffle station and a live omelette station, manned by the most lovely gentleman. Tons of fresh fruit which I loved. Just wish there was an option for espresso coffees too. Room rate wasn’t cheap, we paid well over $200 a night, and there was no housekeeping. So no fresh towels nor change of bedding. I understand we have to call for housekeeping! I wouldn’t choose to return to the Stamford Marriott, unless proper renovations were carried out and housekeeping standards are improved.
Convenient parking garage connected to hotel. Great to see concierge lounge open now and Delmy was a great hostess in the morning making sure everyone had a wonderful breakfast. Nice big gym open 24/7
Stayed here for a night only on the way to Boston. Rooms were OK but the service in the lounge was great by Delmy. The hotel as such is conveniently located in Stamford downtown. Lounge has a small but serviceable breakfast.
This was a great stay. We were traveling down 95 and needed a place for the night. The staff was friendly and the rooms were clean. This is a huge hotel, but kind of dead on a summer Saturday night. We don’t usually eat at hotels but we didn’t feel like leaving and were surprised by the food and service. They serve a full breakfast in the morning at their restaurant. It’s basically the free Marriott breakfast with an omelette station. They charge $21.00 a person.
Great drinks, service slow but, don't let that deter you. Prices are high but, what isn't. Fabulous hummus platter. Im 62 and have had my fair share of martinis, these seem watered down. Go for the beer or ask for shots with your drink.
Very good visit. Like that the Stamford Marriott location has kept their executive lounge open when many others haven’t. Huge win for the business traveler. Good range of breakfast offerings. Delmy always makes sure everyone is served well in the mornings!
The Stamford Marriot has a serious problem respecting its Ambassador members. An ambassador membership is a $20, 000 a year relationship which is two tiers above its previous grades of platinum and titanium. Yet, when you arrive at the hotel the check in staff makes sure you understand that he is doing you a favour (“we have a wedding here tonight” so those guests are more important that you) gives you a room that worse than if I stayed at the Hilton or Stamford across the street, without a view and says he will check if an upgrade is a viable next day. Of course next day nobody calls, I ask, still not upgrade, the following day still no upgrade “we are full”. I ask the maintenance staff at the new store and they tell me that the hotel is quiet during the week. Also, when hotel rates are now running in the $400-$600 range, there is no excuse for no daily cleaning service. Apparently I had to ask the previous day. Go to hell. You are a 5 star hotel with no self respect, actually expecting guests to understand your staffing problems at the rates you charge. Also, except for the check in staff who are highly trained to lie to guests about upgrades, the rest of the staff do not even look guests in the eye to say good morning. I am from Asia, and the lowest level staff are trained to take pride in their property. This property is way out of line in service standards. I will not be renewing my ambassador stays from now on, not that 19 years as life time platinum counts for anything either.
My most recent stay a week ago began with excellent service from Rebecca F. at the front desk, who said I seemed stressed out and gave me certificates for one free breakfast and a $20 dinner credit. She was kind and sympathetic. My room was nice if a bit small, making for an overall good experience with one important qualification: The food venues here have inconvenient hours. The restaurant does not serve food until 6 pm at night, and the coffee shop closes at 11 a.m. I would have liked to have a cocktail at 4 or 5, and a coffee in the afternoon.
Don't forget to use Hᴏᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking a place. They compare countless booking websites and normally will have prices much cheaper compared to others! Thank me later! This hotel is one of the best in the area. I have been coming here for a long time. If you stay for a few nights you won't be let down.\\n\\nExcellent service. Lounge staff were attentive to our needs and did their best to accommodate us. Garage also has 3 Tesla chargers. Not as fast as at home but did the job overnight.
I really don’t do reviews much but this deserves 5 stars! My stay here was great! Very peaceful and clean rooms. The restaurant for breakfast took the cake. The customer service was over the top. The staff were so attentive and professional. The food delicious and fresh!
