A lovely night out at an italian restaurant with a wide array of dazzling dishes with fresh pasta and food. I enjoyed sitting outside and enjoying a little bit of a quieter side of Stamford, removed from the city center. There is a little parking lot behind the restaurant with some spots beside it but they fill up quickly. For those concerned about not getting a space - no worries, there is a lot nearby for a shopping center. There was a nice selection of bread and beans available before our meal along with olive oil to dip it in. Seemed like an appetizer unto itself and was quite satisfying.Had a selection of appetizers that included meatballs and calamari. The meatballs were incredibly rich and tender. The calamari was perfectly fried with the perfect blend of spice for the marinara. My main was scallops in black squid ink linguine with a basil marinara sauce. It was perfectly cooked and delightful. The tartufo at the end was decadent but not too big that it felt overly filling. Overall a brilliant experience and I'll be back again!
Awesome!Great food & wonderful service.Just one of those perfect little restaurants where you would change nothing.Celebrated our wedding anniversary here over lunch today & didn’t want to leave. The husband loved his rich- luscious lasagna& I was amazed by my seafood over pasta- made spicy - just the way I like it.Our waiter was attentive - helpful - knowledgeable & just a lot of fun.Definitely recommend geting the espresso - which is roasted around the corner & the lemon pie. This was our first time here & we are already planning our next visit!
The wait is worth it. This place is bare bones, simply amazing Italian-American food. There's almost always a wait (no reservations for couples or small groups most days), but you can sit with a glass of wine or beer while you wait. Highly recommend checking out the menu while you wait, because there are too many good options.Service was excellent and the menu is full of excellent dishes. You can't go wrong but our lobster ravioli (ravioli di aragosta) and the lasagne were fantastic.
Super place. You have to go early or you will wait. Sunny room in the front. Great Italian menu, something for everyone. Very reasonable prices. Great service, food is expedited to tables quickly and arrives HOT! Yummy desserts too. This place is popular and very busy. I highly recommend this local favorite.
Really can't beat it - great food at great prices. I love their red sauce - Chicken parm, egglpant rollatini, chicken scarpiello all are so good. Also, their wine pours are incredibly generous which makes it hard not to have a good time here (even if the wait is over an hour for a table). It's best to either come early or when you're not super hungry as there is usually a wait, but it's worth it.
Wonderful, authentic Italian food in a homey atmosphere. Good service. Does not take reservations so be prepared to wait for a table during popular times.
Let me first start off by saying nothing give me more displeasure than to write this review. We have been residents of Stamford and frequent Cafe Silvium goers for years. Everyone we can speak to about and bring to Cafe Silvium we do and we have loved it.The food is always incredible and we never leave disappointed.However.... The past two times I've gone (both times bringing new family and friends to try) the service and experience have been less than stellar. Im completely understanding of the times, the industry and busy weekends. The first time we went we were a large group with an early celebratory reservation and was told we needed to be out by with 2 hours of sitting to turn the tables... totally fine. Until our appetizer order wasn't placed until after a half hour of seating, our entree order another 30 minutes after that and by the time we got our food we had twenty minutes until we were suppose to be out. understanding things happen we thought the least that would be done was to not rush us since we waited so long however 10 minutes past the time we were suppose to get up, a runner tells us we were suppose to be up 10 minutes ago, not only rushing us through dinner but completely ruining the celebratory dinner. The last time, and truthfully last time we go for a while at this point, I made a same day reservation on a Friday for 4-6 people, which is usually unheard of cause it's all booked. When making the reservation I told the host I didn't know if was going to be 4 or 6 to which he said they only take reservations of 6 and continued to take my information. At the last minute 2 people canceled on our dinner and after hyping up the restaurant to yet another group of friends who have yet to experience cafe silvium, we check in. When we check in I explained that it was going to be 4 of us instead of 6 to spare the two top for another party and the host refused to seat us! I have never experienced something like that in my life... things happen, people cancel - but to refuse to seat a group who had a reservation is mind blowing to me and was the last terrible experience I plan to have there for a while.I'm not saying don't go, because truthfully Im so sad to take this place out of our dinner rotation for the time being but I am saying be mindful. Cafe Silvium is totally worth the hype and will not hurt from one group of people not giving them patronage BUT perhaps they can learn to get over their own hype a bit, serve and entertain with humanity after all isn't that the whole concept? AND when all else false and you reach a level of frustration as we did, I hear Pellicci's is a solid competitor.
I wish there were more than 5 stars for this place. Favorite restaurant ever. The wine pours are exceptional and the food is out of this world. They do off menu items like chicken parm as well. The wait staff and owners are so friendly and treat everyone like family. Best place ever.
Came here for lunch; the food was disappointing. The lasagna was dry, and more like meatloaf stuffed into lasagna noodles than traditional lasagna. The chicken rollatini was tasteless, the caprese salad was a bunch of mozzarella balls, and tomatoes on a bed of salad - not the usual slices of mozzarella with tomatoes slices drizzled with olive oil and basil. The eggplant parm was more like deep fried eggplant with very cold baratta on top - not a good combination. The fish was okay - lacked flavor. The desserts were small, and unimaginative. The glass of wine before lunch was about the only good thing about this lunch. (Forgot to mention that the waiter forgot one of the lunches - there were only four -, one chicken dish was ordered another arrived. Our dessert order was taken by two different waiters, and still it sat forgotten at the pickup window - we were just about to cancel the order when it came). The good thing - if you want to take your time eating, it's good. We were given one hour to eat our food with no interruption.
My group of friends had a birthday dinner outing here. There were 2 other birthday tables when I dined. The place was packed on a weekday, and as the previous reviewer noted, most of the customers appeared to be locals. A bit too cozy for my taste, but generous portion of wine and reasonably priced tasty food overruled. I felt like I was attending a large Italian wedding. Parking could be difficult on premises - my friends parked across the street. Highly recommended.
