Last Tuesday I was in the area visiting friends and they invited me to the trivia night at Hawk’s Landing. I was extremely satisfied! A lovely porch area with great staff, great food and most importantly - a great DJ! I saw an earlier review about people cheating and screaming… or something to that accord, and honestly don’t know what that review is referring to. (It also seems a little petty to be accusing random people of cheating at trivia, but maybe that’s just me.) From my perspective, it seemed that everyone was having a great time, especially that aforementioned team of college aged kids. One question at the end about African geography was particularly tricky but those kids got it right and won! Good for them (and it looks like I have some studying to do…) We will definitely be returning to this location for trivia! And many participants felt the same! I’m excited, because it’s a very nice looking venue.
We travelled quit a bit to try a new venue for Trivia last night and was extremely disappointed. Two tables, one with teenagers/college kids and one with their elders/parents were openly cheating the entire game, and not surprisingly, winning gift cards and usually winning we were informed. Several of the teens screaming inappropriate comments about it. Not even trying to hide it. The parents/elders were double checking answers and sharing answers with them. The DJ was informed multiple times and said he knew about it, but did nothing. Aftering finding out several of the adult players worked at the golf course this was clearly the reason it was being allowed to happen. Multiple tables approached us letting us know this happens every single week and they are not removed from the game. If it was anyone else they would have been disqualified. It may seem small, but many teams who play this trivia travel to different locations as part of a tournament held at the end of the year to win some pretty big prizes by placing 1st, 2nd, or 3rd and gaining points weekly. No way that's possible here if the golf course workers and their kids are allowed to cheat and win every week. As a paying customer that should be what matters. Not your employees or their kids winning. We will definitely not be returning to this location for trivia. And many other participants felt the same. It's too bad because it's a nice looking venue. The way these adult kids were allowed to act tells you why we have so many problems in this country with bullying.
Food was delicious, sangria (red) had a great taste! Plenty of outside seating. Music also.Beautiful view! Schedule below for music. Nachos were huge.
We enjoyed a nice variety of appetizers outside on the patio with a large group of work friends. We had plenty of space for our group, and atmosphere was great. Our sever was very sweet, but a bit overwhelmed. The food was good, especially the chicken wings. We also had tasty nachos, veggies, and cheeses. The drinks were delicious and reasonably priced.
A favorite outdoor dining spot disappointed on my last visit. Service was soo slow. Could barely get drinks when three of us were there, never mind when our group expanded to 8. As a result we abandoned plans for dinner and went to another local spot and had great food and service. It’s a shame they can’t get it together.
After waiting 25 minutes for service we had to go to the bar and order drinks. They refused to serve my 25 year old girlfriend because she’s from New York and claimed it was a fake. When she reasoned with them about how she’s from NY and living in West Hartford because she’s a teacher there the waiter was extremely rude and condescending. He went and got his “manager” who was probably no older than 20 and she came out and said that she wouldn’t be served either. After showing my girlfriends vaccine card showing her birthdate and address they admired that she was over 21. Yeah a little too late. They were so rude and unprofessional and I would never recommend this place EVER.
The new restaurant Bunkers is great. Love the new NON smoking outside area. Cassie is the new manager. She is awesome. Matteo was the bar server and so friendly. We Weill definitely be going back.
Best buffalo chicken wrap I've ever had. The whole experience was great. Wait and bar staff were great! Christy the cook is fantastic! I will definitely be back!
Outdoor dining was a little cold but accommodated with gas heaters. Delicious salads. Will be back.
