All the ethnocentrism one would expect of a country club, delivered with all the mediocrity afforded by a dwindling post war middle class. Don't really know, got weird vibes from this place, the ideals of a forgone age clinging to life in a time where they seem little more than a half remembered dream. Plus they overcharged one of my table members unapologetically, which is enough to warrant this review in of it's self.
Horrible food. I ordered a French Dip it was in the microwave so long it was dried out and black. It hard to believe they would serve such garbage. Will never go back there.
Back Nine Tavern is located at the Southington Country Club next to a scenic golf course. There is a main bar room and a good sized meeting room with its own small bar. A nice array of food was brought out from the kitchen for a gathering of around sixty held here mid-April.Dishes included bruschetta, chicken wings, stuffed mushrooms, mini-meatballs, jalapeno poppers and coconut shrimp. The bruschetta was better than most since the grilled baguette slices were seasoned. The stuffed mushrooms were large with a flavorful sausage stuffing and the fried jalapeno poppers had the right balance of heat with melted cheese in each bite. A nice sized shrimp was used for the coconut shrimp and they weren't too sweet. The chicken wings were on the small side and dry. Drinks from the bar had a good pour. There was a lot of food left at the end of the evening, so guests were welcome to bring some home. If in the area, this is a place worth considering for an event. Management is very customer oriented and friendly.
The food was great… pasta fagioli soup was so good. Broccoli rabe over penne was not bitter. So sweet and cooked perfectly. The chicken Marsala was fried - didn’t expect that but it was cooked perfectly and the sauce was delish. Hannah was our waitress and she was outgoing, friendly and a great server.
Super crowded and the tables are so close together. My chair kept getting bumped into. The menu was expensive, uninspired, and boring. Apps and dinners were served at the same time. Long wait on the drinks.
Eggplant fries are amazing! My tree hugger sandwich served on a Portuguese roll, was 3 slices of zucchini, 2 slices summer squash (each was less than a mm in height), a few red peppers. There was nothing on it to enhance the flavor. Quite disappointing. My mother in law got a Cobb Salad that looked amazing and she said it was very fresh. Third person in our group had a create your own flat bread pizza, it was was ok. Nothing wowed, except the eggplant. Definitely going for the eggplant again!
First nice day of the spring. Sat outside and had two pizzas and our daughter had Mac and Cheese.Food came out very very fast. Very good as well, wish there were a little more organized for the outside patio. People were just trying to make seats.
Excellent igloo dining! It was a great night.
This is a really nice place with good food and service. Greeted at the door and taken care of quickly. Very relaxing place to go.
We had a private party for a construction group! Excellent food, service and staff! Highly recommend ??
