First time trying them and it was good Jerk chicken and red peas soup and curry goat was awesome I will recommend it to my friends.
Horrible experience! Very overpriced for mediocracy. For the past day, I have had the worst stomach pain ever. I’m constantly running to the bathroom and I’m very nauseous. I do not have a sensitive stomach so whatever I ate had to be poorly prepped or undercooked. I ordered a side of Rasta pasta and the dinner portion of stew chicken. I’m very disappointed because I expected better. I love Jamaican food. I paid $35 to enjoy my meal. Not to become sick!
Jerked Chicken was perfection. Great spicy rub with a slightly sweet sauce. The chicken cooked beautifully, crisp skin and tender with the perfect amount of heat. The plantains were perfectly caramelized. I also ordered "Festival" which were a fine cornmeal dough fried. Sweet with the slightest hint of star anise (guessing). Very good. Bread pudding was very unique. A dense cake-like base with raisins an amazing creamy spiced rum sauce.
Was there last Saturday with family & the food was delicious! Everything I tried (with family so we were trying things each other ordered) was done perfectly.I got the soup of the day, goathead soup (aka mannish water) I also got a curry goat served with rice & plantains (yummy). Also had/ or tasted the buffalo wings, the thai spiced wings, and the festivals. Everything was perfect. LOVED the curry goat & the thai wings. I will definitely go back! And, I definitely HIGHLY RECOMMEND! The staff & owner were attentive if a bit overworked due to a full house. If you want authentic Jamaican food done right this is the place to go!
Solid, hearty food that’s easy on the wallet. Will be returning.
The food is excellent here I would recommend this place and the service is good
This was my first time eating here. Stumbled upon this place when i got a $7 grub hub credit. So decided to buy the curry goat special which was $17. Now i am thinking $17 ? must be large...WRONG...see pic below. This was a small...at best medium no way this was worth $17. They cooked and preped the full nicely, i kindof moved the veggies around before the pic. Definitely will not order here without food credit way too expense!!! Foood tasted good but not worth $17, eaten food from richie rich that tasted better and for wayyyy less.
From I’m eating Jamaican food in the us is best I ever have people just try the food for your self
Tropical Island Spice is a great family restaurant. The staff is great and the food is excellent. Also, the prices are very reasonable.
Visited this new jamican restaurant in Norwalk, and I was surprised how it looks inside. Its nice and clean. The D.J. was jamming, staff so Friendly, It's a cool place to hang out and have some drinks. However, I ordered the oxtail to go. For the price I paid for it, the portion was a very, very, VERY SMALL. It wasn't worth it. The food was very Bland and the meat was nothing but fat on it... I would come back and have some drinks and chill, but not to eat.
