On a Wednesday karaoke night, they were out of lobster pot pie, steamers, and seared scallops. (I don’t understand why fried scallops were available unless they were frozen fried scallops.)We settled for fish and chips, fish tacos, crab cake and seafood bisque. The crab cake tasted like it just came out of the freezer and the seafood bisque tasted watered down and milky. The other two dishes were passable. Stomach is not at all happy after the crab cake and soup.Beautiful view but we won’t be coming here anymore.
Nice place to grab seafood and the view is amazing. The outside bar needs some love the beer pours with floaters as well as very foamy.
We have been going to Sono Seafood for more than thirty years. This last (and I mean last) visit (first since the pandemic) was punctuated a wait of more than an hour and a half for the food. Three of the adjacent tables who ordered similar (and in at one table the same) dishes being seated after us were served and given their bill before we had our main courses. One of our sides was never brought out — they did take it off the bill and the quantity in our order of mussels was significantly less than At the end of our meal, I mentioned all this to the hostess who did not offer any correction to the bill. Even though my wife and I had one of our first dates there and got engaged at Sono Seafood, we will not be back. It is truly a shame that such a previously good restaurant has descended so far.
Loved the renovation, bright and cheery. We were seated right away inside and everything was delicious!
The food was not good. The scallops were bay scallops--not what the menu said-- and were pretty much tasteless. Tasted as if frozen and thrown into a fryer. The bread fell off and tasted soggy--not cooked enough. My wife's fish and chips -- the fish tasted horrible. The onion rings were good. All in all -- a D.
Food and svc was very They still need to make the deck seating area more attractive.
This place is awful all around. Overpriced bland entrees that are tiny portioned for what you pay ($30-$50). They are always terribly understaffed (but not hiring?), so it’s often over an hour wait just to get seated and then another hour to get your food. Try Sunset Grille or Harbor Lights for better quality seafood, still on the water, and with much better service.
I love this place and always go there whenever I am in South Norwalk. The only downside is that I specifically asked to have no garlic on my broiled fish, but when it came out it was covered in garlic and I have an allergy. I’m pointing this out they quickly replaced it with a dish without garlic. Other than that this is the top places to go for reasonably priced and delicious seafood.
Great location, nice view. But food isn't seasoned or very flavorful. The fish sandwich has a standard plastic piece of tomato and huge lettuce. No sauce. The bun wasn't holding anything so the sandwich came apart in a minute. The fish had no flavor just a deep coat if flour and oil. Bisque and chowder was ok. Deep shrimps had way to much oil. Very greasy and lacking flavor.
I've had almost no problems with this place, wait times aren't horrible when waiting and food is great. I recommend the lobster roll as it is to die for. Although I only have one problem, thier rush productivity and effectiveness. During rushes their effectiveness in food quality goes down, not dramatically, but goes down. Just recently I came in during a rush and ordered clams and oysters. The clams were amazing but the oysters were different. I found that they were less clean, one with a black substance on it that I had to scrape off and another with a whole baby hermit crab under the oyster itself. Until they improve their food quality during rushes I will keep this at four stars and refrain from getting seafood during rushes.
