Today was Mother's Day, it was extremely busy, but they were quick, fast and efficient, food was cooked, perfect friendly, customer service truly enjoyed my day.
24 oz Porterhouse was cooked perfectly. Juicy and delivered to the table nice and hot. Friendly and extremely nice associates. Clean restaurant. Baked potato was great. Corn on the cob was soggy/ overcooked. Salads a little small. Great dessert selections and tasty. Recommend you save a few dollars for a good dining experience.
Back in the days American steakhouse was the best now it’s Trashh the steak they had taste just like hamburger the chicken breast was uncooked….. they charge us for a cups of water likee WHATTTT I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone if I was ya I will stay away from them…

Used to come here lots after church on Sunday two years ago. My only huge concern are the steaks being reheated... I remember while taking a bite, I tasted something gassy. Regardless of that, I loved the pasta and tomato sauce. My last visit was nearly two years ago. Hope there is improvement with the steaks.EDIT 2022: I came here not too long ago just to check out what happened, since I haven't eaten here in two years. The steaks changed and tasted VERY good. You also get a free salad for your meal, and I gave macaroni salad a go. It tasted amazing! As for the food portions, there are great selections. I finished my food and left happily with a full stomach. My three star review turned into five stars! Can't wait to come here again next time!
I may be bias because I've been going since I was a kid but American Steak House is always a hit. As soon as you walk in the decor hits you with 90s nostalgia and I don't hate it. It's nice to have a place that still feels like home instead of solid black, white and gray walls that all the other franchises seem to have "upgraded" to. The food is great and steak is always seasoned well! Is it a super high end steak house? No. You won't have to drop $50 on a cut. However for the price the meals taste great and with the buffet you get a lot of bang for your buck. Truly a blast from the past gem in the neighborhood. I may go and have amazing $50-$100 steak but this place will always be home and a sudden last minute craving ?. Call it guilty pleasure.
We were driveing the Post Rd in Norwalk trying to figure out what we wanted to eat and spotted American Steak House. So no more salad bar that made them famous. This is a big bummer!!!! They really should bring it back and just put up better shielding with gloves as all the buffets in Fairfield County have been already doing for a while. They do give you a salad, a choice of coleslaw or macaroni salad, and you can even get a choice of lental soup, or pasta or rice as well BUT nothing is even as good as their salad bar that's not there anymore. The usual corn, mushrooms, peppers, and deserts are available for additional purchase. I enjoyed my steak it was even better than the one at The Bpt location. Still though a great place to eat!!!!
Grew up eating here and wow did it change! I wasn't offered the salad bar that ones with my food, small children were screaming and playing hide and seek under the tables a d my steak was so full of grizzle that I couldn't eat it.
Hands down the best steak in town! You get a lot for your money and the service is great!
