Have been loving this place for over 30 years. Not sure if it's because of the challenges of new ownership or other factors but they are struggling to deliver food that is properly cooked, served hot and keep the basics (condiments, napkins, etc) topped up. I hope the team can develop some good workflows to get the operation running smoothly again. They can do it!
I love this place for lunch! My boyfriend and I live close and we come every once in a while. Sitting by the water and enjoying a summer lunch is nice. The food is good for the price!
Always busy so one would think it'd be A-1, but... Ordered the calamari and the clam strips dinner; as busy as they were they called my number in a timely fashion, but... they said they were busy that I had to pick my milkshake at the other window that was 4 people deep, but... portion size of the calamari was easily half that at either Ocean Pizza or the Shack; they were greasy and underdone rather than crisply fried. The straps were a dark brown, over cooked rather than light and crispy. Both tasted of old grease. The fries were the nice shoestring type but were white rather golden brown. Overall, a disappointment for $40. You have a great reputation but it seems to be sacrificed when the order line lengthens... sadly.
The only reason I gave Fred's four stars is that I am not the biggest fan of flounder. I'm more of a cod person. Some people say that they are the same. They're not. It was tasty. Friendly, and accommodating staff. Price is right. Speed of service was good. Definitely will go back.
Lobster roll was magical! The place was EXACTLY what I hoped for - a great take out restaurant with true seafood at a great price. I've never had a lobster roll anywhere else that even comes close to this one! Motorcycle riders - this is a go-to before or after the ferry!
The lobster salad sandwich sucked. The lobster was watery and salty, they layed it on a bed of lettuce and celery in a hot dog bun, I think there was mayo but not sure. Was charged $25 and it didn't even come with a side. The onion rings were good, but greasy. Won't go there again, very disappointed
Excellent place to buy great food at reasonable prices ?. Though I heard it was sold this past Winter, we went there just last week, 4//08/22, and the food was the same and prices also. It's an enjoyable experience.
This place used to have legendary fries!!! Not anymore! Under the new management, its an average place with nothing special! Don’t waste your time, it’s not the same!
Terrible food and a total disappointment. Hot dog was burned, dry, and tough. Fries were cold and tasteless and all were little one inch long pieces.My girlfriend's chili fries were the same cold, tasteless fries under a helping of lukewarm chili. Prices are no bargain either. We will never go back. Chicken sandwich was dry and overcooked.This place used to be very good but has gone WAY downhill.
My go to stop on my commute down to Ocean beach. Food is simple and fresh, and always a line in the summer because the locals know it’s top of the town
