Food was very good. Waitress was wonderful -- attentive, friendly and thoughtful. The rest of the restaurant staff was also very efficient and pleasant.
Service was atrocious, we had to move because it started to rain and server never completed are order, we had to remind him. He also never asked if everything was okay, nor came back to ask if we wanted anything else to drink and the food was just okay. We waited 20 minutes before we had to get up and ask for the check. Would have been easy to dine and dash. Awful
Nice place for a working lunch. Prices are a little high but food is tasty and nicely presented. Outdoor seating a plus.
The food was good but not memorable. Regardless, I enjoyed it. My two fellow diners were very pleased with their dishes. I didn't feel that the Mediterranean influence in the menu was measurable. I was expecting some Middle Eastern/Northern Africa dishes. Also, unfortunately, our table was near a speaker in the ceiling so, at times, it was a little noisy for conversation purposes. The staff was very courteous and pleasant. I would visit SouthBay again and try other entrees.
Best restaurant in New Haven!!
Excelente servicio
We sat at the bar for dinner and the bartender made delicious drinks as well as was attentive. The food was outstanding! We both ate the hanger steak which was cooked to perfection and the truffle mashed potatoes were heavenly.
Great service and the outdoor dining on College Street was fun. The salads, beet carpaccio in particular, were excellent. Very fresh greens, well and flavorfully dressed. The duck breast entree was done just right, and the flavors blended beautifully. Alas, the paella was over cooked, as if it had been too long under the broiler at the finish. The result was dry and relatively flavorless, despite a good selection of seafood.
The food was good. We all had the 2 course prix fixe brunch, which offers a lot of variety at a good price. Like nearly all restaurants these days, I think they are understaffed which led to some service delays and forgotten items. It was all good in the end, and I would go again.
Our server was lovely and very accommodating. When we told her we wanted to take our time she gave us lots of space but was still attentive. My food was good, the steak tartare and sea scallops. My husband ordered the lamb lollipops and the duck entreeâ¦both over cooked by A LOT. He should have sent both back but is the type of person that feels bad doing so so he ate them but it was shocking that the chefs would overcook both those dishes by such measure. As he put it âthe duck was murdered twiceâ.
