Since I’ve lived in CT, my friends have raved about how New haven has the best pizza in the country. I’ve tried a few spots in the area and wasn’t the biggest fan. This changed after I had my first slice at Moderns. The dough wasn’t overcooked or super thin. It wasn’t dry, it was simple just right. The pie was stacked with tons of toppings. I did a pick up and it only took about 15 mins. My favorite part was the garlic bread. It was super tasty!! Definitely look forward to going back soon!

This place is excellent. And if you go, get in and sit down, even better. We got in at 4:30 on a Sunday with little wait. We crushed a couple pizzas - Margarita and Italian Bomb. The Bomb was amazing. You will not be disappointed with this place.

I am on a mission to show my friend who just moved to Connecticut from New York that Connecticut has the best pizza. We met here first and agreed on ordering a classic plain pizza with mozzarella so we could taste the sauce and the crust. That was our appetizer. For our main entry we ordered the veggie bomb. She took one bite and exclaimed, “Sold!” We bought large pies so we could take home leftovers and ate it warmed up for dinner, too. Just as good, well it is best when it comes out of the oven and it is served with a big smile. The old time leather booths are roomy and private. A warm, inviting atmosphere with sincere servers. Try a Gasosa soda mixed with seltzer for a light and refreshing drink.

Absolutely delicious, great service, would 100% come back.Classic New Haven style pizza with almost a century of history behind it that’s worth looking into. The mozzarella pizza was wonderful. Great crust , flavorful sauce, gooey cheese. Personally like my pizza with more sauce but we got there right when they opened so it came out piping hot so cheese was probably particularly melty. Still loved it and great service. Would definitely go back!

This pizza restaurant located in New Haven CT is the best. Everytime I visit CT. I go to Modern Apizza. The picture only tells you how beautiful this pizza comes to the table but the taste is scrumptious. I ate only 2 slices but I wanted more. I find there are many great Pizza restaurants in CT. This is one of my favorites. The staff makes you feel like family. Love It!!!!!

Friday night. No wait. Walked right in and were seated. Place smelled wonderful with all the pizzas cooking in the coal-fired oven. First time so we ordered a large pepperoni, small white pizza, small Italian bomb, and a small clam pizza. I was most impressed with the clam pizza because coming from Maryland, I've never had anything like it. Clams were very flavorful and with a few squeezes of lemon, it was great. The pepperoni pizza was also very good. I think our group's least favorite was the white pizza. They also had a few local beers on tap that were solid additions. I'm not sure it was the best pizza we've ever had, as we've done other places like Brooklyn and Manhattan that also claim pizza supremacy, but there's no doubt that this is a serious contender for best pizza in the country.

Naturally, New Haven, Connecticut is the pizza capital of the United States but then there is a battle for Number 1 for pizza locations there. Modern Apizza wins by a bit. We ordered the Eggplant and Ricotta pie which had plenty of toppings, was perfectly cooked with there famous sauce. The staff has always been friendly but good luck you will most likely wait to get in. It's worth the wait Another thing is you always take some like I did. Enjoy the sauce covered pizza box.

This review may be a little unfair, but I was told in no uncertain terms this will be the best pizza I've ever eaten. Was it very good? Yes. The best ever? Probably in the top 10, but I have to say I've had others that were tastier. It was the crust I was most disappointed in, not nearly crusty enough, too floppy.Let go and let Tom!

A staple of the Apizza … I did a little New Haven Apizza tour trying all 3 big names. Modern for me was possibly the best of the Apizzas I had, Tying with Pepe’s but better for me than Sally’s. Getting Apizza is a must when you are in the New Haven Area. The online ordering made it very easy to pick up (enter on the side door for pick up).

Busy Saturday afternoon for lunch for four. Kudos to the young lady Maitre'D who kept the long line of waiting diners happy. Working efficiently and with smiles ,kind words, and a few laughs she made the experience extra nice. But the proof of the pudding is in the eating. And that's what we did! The pizza is fantastic.. Forgettaboudit. I worked in NYC for forty years. I had a co worker who ate pizza every day. We went far and wide all over the greater metropolitan region for pizza. Moderna pizza is as good as it gets. Now there's always guys who say I like thin crust, too much sauce, too much cheese, the crust is too thin, and on and on. So you can never really crown one pizza as A#1, King of the Hill Top of the Heap, because those little idiosyncrasies of the individual pizza eater can't be satisfied. That being accepted as a prerequisite in any best pizza conversation I submit Moderna pizza is as good as any pizza any where. Forgettaboudit. I am glad I tried it and it was a great pizza experience.
