Some of these bad reviews are really exaggerating, I urge you to try it out!The food is always amazing, I usually get the lamb shawarma plate with baklava or chocolate halavah. I don’t like overly sweet things so the mango juice was just perfect. They even grow the mint for the lemonade themselves in their garden. If you can handle spice, I recommend the pepper hot sauce on your meat dishes. The customer service is very nice and helpful, the dishes always comes quickly. Even the environment is comfortable, with music & colored lamps, I always dine in. If you feel you have a bad experience, I urge to come back another day, the business is sometimes busy from university student online orders. Don’t let it discourage you from truly experiencing Mamouns :)My mom has been eating at Mamouns since she was a teenager and now I am, it’s honestly such an amazing family restaurant!
Hands down the best Arabic food you’ll find in CT. Been coming here since I was a child and they leave me full and happy everytime. Also the Turkish coffee will send you up the wall, just make sure to pair it with a pistachio Turkish delight!
I went here for a lemonade and a dessert. The reason I gave this restaurant 2 stars was because the lemonade was actually good. The customer service however was terrible. When we got there the restaurant was empty. Even though two people were standing behind the counter, we were not acknowledged, no biggie but it would have made the experience easier. we placed an order on the touch screen menu then sat down for a while, realizing no one was moving or making an effort to complete our order I decided to ask when it would be ready. The lady behind the counter was visibly annoyed and gives us a generic “in five minutes” response. After that they started working on the order and we were out of there in almost 15 minutes… for a lemonade, in an empty restaurant. The lemonade was literally right next to them, but they were too busy talking and ignoring customers. The only thing we understood from their little conversation is one woman saying “I don’t care” over and over.
I’ve been coming to Mamoun’s for 40 years(!) and from the first falafel, it’s always been a great place to enjoy a delicious middle eastern bite to eat. Consistently the best falafel in New Haven, easy parking, friendly atmosphere and staff, cheap prices. Open 365. Love the cardamom ice tea and the hot tea. Sweet deserts. Eat in or grad and go.
Do not go to Mamoun’s. We dined here about a year ago and it was great. Something changed, though, and we’re sure to never go back. Spent $36 on two sandwiches, one of them a “combo” which I thought meant pita AND fries. Nope, just a few fries on top of the pita. Portions were absolutely tiny for the steep price. Save your money and go literally anywhere else. What a shame.
One of the best restaurants in all of Connecticut. It is an institution. Really good food for dirt cheap prices. Cool decor too and friendly staff.
Delicious food at great prices. Staff is always pleasant regardless of how late it gets. Very reliable place to grab food and would definitely recommend.
When I spend $100 (delivery and tip included) on Falafel dinner - I expect it to be really good! Me being Mamoun’s customer for 12 yrs really disappointed. The main ingredient of Baba Ganouj is eggplant, it was so much tahini and bit of eggplant I hardly tasted the eggplant!Rice is halfway cooked. Falafel is dry and you can tell they used so much cumin. This is not how you make Falafel.Bottom line - I’m so dissatisfied and will never order from this place again.
I used to go to the one I NYC and when I found out there was one here I was excited. For the past 3 years I’ve been coming to this location and never had a problem. Unfortunately the last couple times my food hasn’t been tasting that great. When I went in and ordered there were two younger looking employees I’ve never seen before and I noticed I got my food pretty quickly. When I bit into my falafel they were all cold in the middle. Then the next time I ordered my food the falafel was hard on the outside and kind of gross. I’m hoping these were just slip ups because I truly used to love to get falafel sandwiches from here.
One of the worst take outs I have had in over 4 years. The coke cans had expired (as pictured) and the quality of food was bad. I had ordered the falafel plate and the vegetables were stale. My friends ordered the Chicken Kebob and they were served lamb instead of chicken. The portion sizes were also disappointing for the price and the restaurant never owned up to their mistake, apologized or issued a refund.
