We arrived around 5:25 on a rainy Thursday and got to sit down with no wait time.Pizza was good enough that I (a fairly small Asian woman - approx 115lbs) ate 12 pieces. We got the classic tomato pie with mozzarella, bacon and garlic, and clam and bacon. The bacon was particularly good. I don’t think I can decide which one was my favorite.Food came out quick, server was very nice, got only positive things to say about them!

Me and the family had a blast here. The service was A+ service. Haven't been made to feel at home like this at a restaurant in quite awhile. Turning to the food, it was all incredible. Clam pizza was good, not great but it met my expectations. The mushroom spinach pizza and meatball pizzas were delicious as well. Fell in love with the mushroom pie though. Overall, it was incredible!!

The pizza is very good! The pizza is horribly overpriced! 29+ dollars for a large pizza ?

The White Clam pizza and a Margherita pizza both tasted excellent. Perfectly seasoned, fresh tasting but also very mature flavors. But, I expected perfection from the best rated pizza and it wasn't my favorite dough. In my opinion, it was too chewy, and the crust was too though almost inedible. Almost perfect pizza but I've had better dough in half a dozen places in NYC. 5 stars for sauces, 3 for dough.

Legendary pizza spot. Line looks long but it moves fast. Frank Pepe and Sally’s are the two most visit place in New Haven. Top notch quality pizza. We ordered White Clam and Classic Tomato and Cheese pizza and both came out delicious. Waited about 30 mins on Saturday night. Highly recommended!

I don't understand why they have such a big reputation. The clam apizza was cold, the clams dry and the crust seemed stale. The other pizza we ordered was barely better. We only ate a slice from each and ended up throwing the rest after we got home and decided it just wasn't worth the calories. I don't think I have ever thrown away pizza in my life. Definitely not worth the price. One star for the pizza and a second star for the staff being nice.

Ok the tomato sauce/pie is definitely different than other pizza sauces and well done, it was very good. Not as crowded as I was told. The white clam pizza was ok, but I had a very hard clam shell on my pizza slice, not good. It was my first time there and I would not go back, but I'm glad I was able to finally try their pizza. Don't get takeout and try to eat it there, they will not allow patrons to eat their takeout food inside their restaurant, it must be either takeout, delivery, or dine in since its more of a restaurant than just a pizza place.

This pizza is a little different than New York style pizzas. Pepe's chars the outer edge of the crust which makes it appear burnt, but it isn't burnt. It is crispy and is one of the most delicious I have ever had, and I have been judging pizzas for over 50 years. This pizza certainly ranks near the top. Our waitress was helpful in explaining the menu and we got good service. There is also free parking which is a bonus in downtown New Haven.

Popular pizza spot in New Haven. It’s been around since 1925, so you know the food has to be good. The line had 4 parties ahead of us but we ended up waiting for only 5 minutes. The girl directing you on where to go was a bit brusque, but she noted that the wait shouldn’t take longer than 30 minutes. They have a private parking lot for patrons or there’s limited street parking. Note that there’s two buildings - the smaller one is for takeout only, while the other one is for dine-in. You’re given a table number and then you place your order with the waitress (ours was nice and helpful). For the three of us, we got 1 large clam pie and added bacon. It’s an 18 in thin crust so while it looks big, we finished everything (we were also hungry as we were road-tripping). The pizza was perfectly charred and there was a good amount of clams. There’s red pepper flakes and Parmesan at each table if you need it. Credit cards and cash are accepted. You can scan a QR code to pay. There’s one single occupant restroom for ladies and a separate one for gentleman, but note that you need to use the top lock in the ladies room, as the bottom one doesn’t lock. It is good for big groups, although your party may be split up among different booths. Overall, it was a cozy restaurant with a classic pie.

Went there with my family last nite, worst pizza I’ve had in a long time! I’ve been coming to Wooster St for pizza for 50 years and Pepe’s has slid into the gutter. I am a big fan of the char but this pizza was burnt and doughy I don’t even know how they pulled it off it was so oily you couldn’t even pick it up to eat a slice and it actually didn’t taste all that good! There had to be at least a half of a medium pie left when the waitress came by to ask if I wanted a box I told her no she almost didn’t seem surprised and then I actually told her it wasn’t all that good but to be honest it was pretty disgusting they should be ashamed of themselves to where they are now! It’s like they’re just living off of their reputation and I’m not the only person that seems to feel this way!! The last time I was there the pizza was mediocre at best and I remember telling my wife I don’t need to come all the way down here for mediocre I can get mediocre anywhere well now it’s gone from mediocre to bad and I’m all done with Pepe‘s ! good luck on your expansion and your franchising but you’ll never see me in that joint again!!
