Great food. Good prices, friendly staff! Their cappy sauce is to die for. I moved to Florida about 5 years ago and my mom just went back to CT last week and brought home sauce to enjoy again. Definitely brought back home memories.
Excellent hot dog, good service, love that they kept the inside decor the same. The place is a New Britain landmark, no reason to change it. The sauce, I can't put my finger on it, but the current owners, at some point, must have changed the recipe, and in my opinion, not a change for the better. Slightly off from what I remember. Still a solid dog and worth a trip. Parking on Main St. can be a hassle, so parking in New Brite Plaza is a good option.
Best hotdogs around! Unique! I've never waited longer than 2 minutes if that! Staff/owners always friendly and appreciative. 100% recommend
They have the absolute best hot dogs around. The prices are reasonable and no matter how busy they are the wait is never really long.
This place has been here for over 60 years. The new owners have owned it for at least 20 years. They used to be friendly but the two sons of the owner and the father who is the owner are so rude to their employees and sometimes to the customers. The prices have skyrocketed and the "secret sauce" isn't good anymore. It's hurry up and order and pay so you can get out of the way for the next person. With prices of everything going up in this country the last thing someone who is spending their money would want is mis-treatment. I'd rather go to the other hot dog place (sahaddis hotties which is way better both for food and prices and they are very friendly!) on West main st from now on. Ihave lived in New Britain for almost 40 years years I grew up going to Capitol Lunch and it has changed so much for the bad. They want to charge for extra mustard which is ridiculous! (The last few times I have eaten here I had to use the bathroom very shortly after)
The food at the place is great but oh my gosh is the owner so mean for no reason. a worker of his gave someone some napkins and it was a problem that she gave to much and after that he had an attitude that a customer was asking for a wrapper for a burger. There was no rush and no reason for it. Just treat your customers the way you would want to be treated. You lost a customer

I have been wanting to try this place for years. Capitol lunch was great. No frills, easy menu, and great hot dogs! I had diarrhea after but that's totally my fault!
My grandfather Ernie Therriault worked there many years ago with Art & Nick. I've been going there since I was a kid. That's over 50 years for me. Great memories everytime I go there. The dogs are as good today as they were 50 years ago. Keep it going guys !
