If you want to eat authetic Polish food that thrills your tastebuds, you must go here! Two of us shared the Polish platter with an order of blintzes on the side along with a pint of Polish beer and a paczki for dessert. Amazing! The service was friendly and accomodating, too. You can't get better than that. A must try!
Authentic polish food. Great selection. Service was excellent.
My favorite place to eat out with my friends, food is amazing
Our good friends, who happen to be Polish, invited us to go with them to try out Belvedere Cafe. We have dined with them at some of their favorite Polish cuisine restaurants and have loved most of them. Especially one located in Greenpoint, Brooklyn! We happened to go on a day that the cafe was hosting a birthday party so the only dining option were outside (too cold) or in the front room near the bar. It was unanimous to sit inside. The bar was packed with a crowd watching TV that mostly ignored us. This was fine, but I had to get up several times to ask for menus, to order drinks, water and food. After that, things went smoother and our drinks and food came out relatively soon. The food options were good and had something for everyone. I ordered the small Belvedere platter and loved that I could choose which items I wanted to be included. My personal favorites were the potato pancakes (sour cream and apple sauce on the side) and the Kielbasa (cooked to perfection). The pierogies were okay, but not as good as I have eaten elsewhere. For dessert, our waitress suggested a platter with four small portions of each of the daily specials. Both were very good, but one stood out for me that had both chocolate, caramel, and coconut. Three of my favorites! Coffee and Cappuccinos were slow to arrive, but hot and delicious. The decor was a little odd, but I was more focused on the food. The other thing to note is that most of the stores that sell all Polish delicacies closed at 3PM or are closed on Sundays. My friends were very disappointed as they wanted to stock up for their Easter celebration.
These are great people with great food. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Good food, but if you're not Polish, prepare to be given cold-hearted stares. They seem to prefer to do business with other Polish people and not average every-day Americans of color.
After hearing about certain businesses being vandalized because of their support for Ukraine, I decided to stop by this restaurant to offer my support. I found the beef tripe soup to be delicious and the Belvedere Platter was the best introduction to Polish food. Very flavorful. Unfortunately, the waitress was a bit cold towards me. I'm Hispanic and I noticed the cold stares from patrons alike that may not be used to seeing a Hispanic man eat Polish food, but I am also human and the last time I checked, we not only live in a multi-racial country, but New Britain is also multi-racial with a sizable black and brown population. For this reason, I couldn't give this establishment 5 stars. They should be more welcoming and smile more towards customers that aren't Polish, instead of looking at them as if they came from another planet. WILL NOT be going back
Great atmosphere and great food in very nicely decorated restaurant.
Best restaurant in new Britain!!!Highly recommend
food was excellent and our waitress friendly and attentive. Will be going back
