Amazing golf course in good condition. Everyone is friendly and helpful. Info you’re a low handicapper, playing from the blue tees is manageable but the real challenge is on the quick greens.The snack bar is quick at the turn because you can order from the cart on hole #8. The drinks cart gets around the course often and we saw it 4x during our round. We are definitely going back!
Beautiful golf course...very enjoyable playing 18 holes..excellent staff. My daughter and her fiance will be getting married here next year. Can't wait to see her dream wedding come true.
Great River was the perfect place to have our wedding. The team made our wedding day perfect. Chelsea and Carly are as helpful as it gets and hustled all day! Even our photographer commented how most venues are not as involved and diligent in making sure every detail goes as planned.And the FOOD was amazing! Our tasting with Matt a few months prior was one of our favorite days and the food tasting every bit as good on the wedding day. Many guests told us it was the best wedding food they've ever had.We could not be any happier with Chelsea, Carly and the entire team at Great River and would recommend this venue to anyone!
Great River is a beautiful country club with gorgeous scenery. My daughters wedding was here on May 26th. I was so very pleased everything was done perfectly. The venue, the staff, the food and everything was done to perfection! The event coordinator Gail Hunt did an amazing job which made my daughter and I very happy! If you are looking for the perfect place to have your wedding look no further!!
We had our wedding here - 10/10!! HUGE shout out to Caitlin and Lisanne for making our day exactly what we wanted, and so much more. Also, big thank you to Gail who was there throughout the long planning process. We got married at GRGC on April 23rd, 2022 and it is a day we will never forget. I appreciate Caitlin and Lisanne beyond words. The month leading to our wedding was hectic, but Caitlin was always so speedy on her responses and had the answers to all of my questions. When rehearsal day came around, both Caitlin and Lisanne were rockstars! There wasn't an event the day before so I was able to walk around the ballroom, bring all our decorations into the bridal suite and walk through my vision with Caitlin and Lisanne. I could feel their excited energy which made me even more excited about the big day! Our wedding day was pretty much flawless, all thanks to our team of wonderful women. They kept our timeline on time, were always there for any questions we had, and both truly made the evening perfect. For example, I noticed a few guests getting warm on the dance floor so I asked if we could get the doors propped open to cool off the room, two seconds later the room cooled down. Caitlin and Lisanne were SO attentive, kind, supportive, and truly amazing. There aren't words to truly describe how they made me feel on my wedding day. My husband and I had one goal, to have fun (and get married of course). We wanted everyone around us to have a good time and enjoy themselves. Caitlin and Lisanne helped us reach our goal. I should also mention, the food at Great River is SO GOOD! Our food tasting was unreal and the day-of was even better. The guests commented on how amazing all the appetizers were at cocktail hour and how delicious the entrees were. If I were to do my wedding again, I would do nothing different. Great River Golf Club was the PERFECT venue.
One too many terribly Blind shots and small/narrow landing areas, course was in pretty good condition but too many divots on the greens. Nothing special about the layout or views on the golf course.
AMAZING place to have a wedding!!!! We chose to have our winter wedding at Great River and it was the most incredible and stress free experience from beginning to end. Chelsea, Gail & Caitlin made the entire experience effortless for us from beginning to end. The entire staff was amazing to us, and the food for the wedding was to die for. They were so accommodating and communicated with us through every step of the way. We got married in the breezeway with the beautiful fire heaters and the guests couldn't stop raving about it! 10/10 amazing experience
I had a microwedding at Great River. Gail and her staff did an amazing job with making sure our wedding day was perfect. The staff was kind, the food was great, the grounds were perfectly manicured for photos and Gail gave us tips on where to get the best photos taken. My family loved the place. The bridal suite and groom suites were the perfect touch. I would suggest future couples continue follow up with this venue; sometimes it is very hard to get in touch with them. Even when trying to pay a bill. They have had a healthy increase in wedding volume (which is phenomenal) and are trying to keep up. Be patient! Hopefully they will have hired a receptionist by then!

I cannot recommend Great River enough as a wedding venue!!! This was the only venue that we toured and they went above and beyond in every aspect. Caitlin answered my countless questions via email and was always very polite and accommodating. Chelsea was stellar as our day of coordinator - anticipating our needs, and making sure that we, and our guests, were well taken care of. Our guests had an absolutely wonderful time, and many of them have commented on how delicious the food was. The space was perfect for our wedding (130 people). If you are looking for a beautiful wedding venue in CT, look no further!!
