I wrote a negative review a year or two ago about an awful experience. As always, I try to give restaurants multiple chances in case they get their act together. I checked current reviews and it seemed like this place had improved, so I ordered take out tonight. Not only was the delivery more than 40 minutes late past the "latest anticipated delivery time," but the food is just terrible and I am so disappointed. The pizza is dry, the cheese is overcooked and it arrived cold. Not lukewarm, but stone cold. I had to throw it back in my toaster oven and it's just so bad (the crust is dry, rubbery and stale)...I really I think it needs to be thrown away. The canolli was exactly as I remembered it...soggy, GRITTY and with cinnamon. (I hate cinnamon in my canoli, which is why I checked their description which doesn't mention it.) A pizza place that doesn't know how to make good pizza or canoli? No thanks. This is the very last time I waste my time and money on this place!
Worst dining experience we have ever encountered. Got served the wrong meals. Waitress arguing with us. We ordered spaghetti ? and meatballs. She served us baked penne with one meatball. Meatball was blackened couldn't even cut with a knife.. We told her that we ordered penne with meatballs.. Very disrespectful and wouldn't listen to a word we said. Told us that no manager was on. She was the supervisor. She then started to take our food away with no charge but demand us to leave!. . I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone that I care about. Just remember that the customer is always right!.
The server was friendly and we had our order on the table quickly. We ordered the charcuterie board and a large pizza with pepperoni . Both were great! The pizza had a perfect charred crust and the board had a little bit of everything. We also ordered some stuffed breads to go. If you’re in Middletown give them a try you won’t be disappointed. We will be back.Thank you for a delicious dinner!!
Food at Vero is always great. Pasta dishes and grinders on the freshly baked bread are hearty and delicious. Their fresh bread is outstanding. Their pizza reminds me of my younger days in NYC & NJ - wonderful crispy crust, plenty of gooey cheese and tangy sauce, and fresh & tasty meat and veggies toppings. Our waitress Italia was so sweet and always came back to be sure we didn’t need anything. This is my third time back and will be back soon. Love this place!
Had a very nice experience here last night (5/6/22). Arrived early for dinner with my daughter. We chose to be seated in the lounge area where they had a small 3 piece band playing some great music. It was not overly crowded as we came early and service was fantastic. Ordered the Zuppa da Mussels, the smoked salmon on toast points, Caesar Salad and Seafood Fra Diavolo . Everything was fantastic. The drinks (Blood Mary, Hawaiian Breeze? maybe) were great as well. Waitress service was awesome as usual. Any occasion out with my daughter is always something to remember but the music, drinks and great service in the lounge area made it a great occasion.
Ordered for the first time because of a good recommendation. Chose Eggplant rollatini tonight which comes with a side of pasta. Very unsatisfied. Would not even give 1 star but there is no option for zero stars. I don’t normally even go on these reviews because I feel it’s better to deal one on one with the people. So I called to explain my dissatisfaction. The eggplant tasted like fish- this happens when you fry eggplant in the same oil that you fry fish in. I was promptly argued with by the person in authority who was brought to the phone and then told that my dish was made personally by the owner and that it was clear that I just didn’t care for the taste of their eggplant rollatini. I then went on to explain that I decided to just eat the pasta but after 2 bites my mouth was on fire. Again I was assured that the owner had made my dish and that this was just a case of my not liking their style of preparing this particular meal and was encouraged to try a different item on the menu next time. Let me assure you- there will be no next time!! Very poor customer service!! Very poor quality of food for the price!! And the pasta was overcooked as well.
I gave this place two tries because the first time was so horrible. We ordered two chicken parm subs. They are supposed to come with the sauce, obviously. We got home and there was literally no sauce on either sandwich. It was so dry I almost choked eating it.The second try was tonight. We ordered a pizza advertised at 16”, to be ready at 5:30. We got there a few minutes before 5:30. The pizza was 14”, (we measured), and the box was warm when we picked it up. By the time we made the two minute drive home, the pizza was cold, and the pizza was nothing special. Digiorno is way better. Done with this place. I wouldn’t give them 1 star but people need to know. Idk how their reviews are as high as they are.
This was the worst pizza I have ever had. Reviews were good, though we’d give it a try. What a sham. We ordered a large veggie pizza. It came sopping wet, borderline cheese-less. Pizza was hardly cut - had to break out the wheel and finish the job. I will go out of my way to talk about how bad it was. I may inadvertently advertise this place by talking about how poor their pizza was. Would not recommend.
Best pizza in Middletown. Highly recommend the pepperoni and mushroom. Owner is super nice and friendly. A+
The portions are big, but ours ended up in the garbage! Eggplant parmesan was so dry it was inedible - no cheese or sauce in between several layers of paper thin, cardboard-like substance - assuming it was supposed to be eggplant. Ordered a large soup and it amounted to less than a cup. The salad was unremarkable at best. Tried to call to discuss, but the managers were too busy to talk. Will not order delivery from here again!
