So glad we listened to the reviews and stopped for lunch because they were right!! Very friendly staff. Great atmosphere. Delicious food. Definitely worth the trip from anywhere.
This has gone down hill for a while, even before Covid. We went last week for my lunch break. The place was only maybe 1/4 capacity. I ordered an Egg salad wrap and my wife ordered pancakes with eggs and bacon. It took them almost 40 minutes to bring them out. My wife's was cold and my wrap was mediocre at best. They took an additional 10 minutes to bring me the check. $30 for pancakes and egg salad... The owner was working the register and he didn't even ask how our meal was. We won't be going back again
Clean, bright, nice atmosphere there. I had breakfast. It was my first time there. The piano playing was a unique touch.Food was good. I'd go back.I was invited there by someone who wanted to show off the place. I'm glad we went
May 1 2022 Very nice place. Service was pretty fast for how busy they were. Our waitress does not normally work the weekend but really hassled. Food was good. Need more flavor in the home fries. Piano play was awesome and made the mood. Will try this place again.
Great place. The Steak and eggs was very tasty. My wife enjoyed her grilled cheese sandwich. The pancakes were also very good. The staff was excellent as well
Enjoyable breakfast experience. The books sitting on the bookshelves hung on the walls throughout the diner is a cute idea. What really made it unique was the baby grand piano in the center of the restaurant. We were lucky enough to have a pianist there playing while we dined. The food was typical for a diner but much better than most. The only downside was that it was on the expensive side for breakfast food. Otherwise, a very nice place to try.
Excellent service, delicious breakfast with big portions. The waitress is a pro. I recommend this restaurant over any other breakfast place in the area and surrounding towns.
They have a piano player who plays consistently while you eat breakfast. the foods amazing atmosphere is great love this place and can't wait to go back
I ordered 2 omelets for take out and when I went to pick them up they were giving me unwrapped plastic ware, I left , went out side and checking with my wife see said NO with that plastic ware unwrapped , I went back in to return the food and they said no way no refund too bad, the owner came out and said no way get out , he then said I’m calling the Meriden Police . I left waiting for about 15 min for police to arrive they did not I left If you feel lucky then good luck at that place
I have been coming to Huxley’s for years and have always enjoyed their food, breakfast and lunch. When my boyfriend from out of town came to visit, I thought let’s get take out from this well known breakfast spot near me. Boy, was I embarrassed and disappointed. I ordered a Turkey Sausage, egg and cheese sandwich and he ordered a Sausage, egg and cheese, both came with home fries. He picked up the order and when he got back to my house, his breakfast sandwich had no meat (sausage was missing) and his home fries were cold and hard. My sandwich included very dried out Turkey sausage and the bun was semi hard and the same with the home fries, very cold and hard. To say I was overly disappointed and even wanted to bring the food back and ask for a refund, but my boyfriend advised otherwise. I am not sure what happened with their cooks or what, but this place used to be my fav, now I will never return. Thanks for nothing Huxley!
