Cool spot located in a nice area of downtown. As per everywhere in America, they were short staffed so I’ll give them a pass. The server was nice, polite and honest. She was not one to make an excuse and was eager to alert us so we would not become grumpy! Hats off to her!The drinks were cold (beer) and the atmosphere was ok.The food came out slow. And due to short staff. Although the place was not busy. Fried pickles were ok. The burger was huge! And looked tasty, but did leave something to be desired. My fries were hot and crispy!I’ll give the place 4 stars and would recommend the place to all.

Comfortable atmosphere and very comfortable leather stools with a big wrap around bar. Nice drink selection and a great burger. Tons of tvs for sports. I will go back.

Friendly, spacious with one of the biggest variety of microbrew I know of in the area! Lots to do as well...Pool, hoops, air hockey, and more. Great spot to hang out with friends!

My friend and I are visiting from Columbus, Ohio for the 90s Convention. We were browsing places to eat and stumbled upon this gem. We have been two days in a row now! The food was great, prices were great, and Matt and Julie and some other gal took care of us between Thursday and Friday and they were all really cool and fun and just overall a great experience. Thanks you!

Atmosphere and bar is a 5/5. However, I was hungry and was getting ready to watch UCONN Hockey play at the XL Center. The food selection and menu was good. Their food on the other hand was not. Nachos which weren't pictured were poorly constructed and cold. My burger was the Hangover Burger. Normally these burgers are very tasty. This burger really tasted like nothing. Their was absolutely no seasoning on it. Fries were okay.

I went there on a Wednesday night around 9 PM and it was slow. Just left the XL and wanted to check the Tavern out. I ordered the Cheeseburger Sliders w/fries and pickle since the only thing on the menu was burgers and cheese sticks. The staff was really friendly so I'm giving it a 3, Just Okay. Beer was semi cold, food semi warm. The meat had to be from frozen because it was like a little hockey puck. Fries were 90 % good, but some had a hard middle and a few were limp which makes you wonder. This would be a Great Place to go to if you need to kill time before or after an XL event, but I wouldn't recommend going out of your way for it.

Great tavern had good food and the bartender was very friendly and nice definitely recommend this place

Terrible. Thursday night cover and the bartender stood at the end of the bar flirting with boys while she ignored all new customers. Dreadful. I've been to 4 different bars tonight and the only one I've felt welcomed in was Red Rock Tavern. This city sucks. Don't come here.

A must ..Tv's on every wall sports, action move, news nothing dull on the screens...plenty of seating. Their food is one of the best in the city of Hartford... the Bar is in the center to the back where all beverages are served they have it on tap bottle, cups or glasses..

I come to work in Hartford once a month. I discovered this amazing place with the greatest server Alexis. the food is incredible. I have been all over central America and I have never had better fish tacos than the Tavern Downtown. The margaritas by Alexis are a perfect pairing. This is a great place with good people and loyal customers!
