My experience with Blue State Coffee use to be Warm, Welcoming and glad to greet you. Last night experience at the Blue State Coffee was very disappointing and being cussed at by this same younger employee, and told I am gonna get my Momma to come down here to this store and kick your ass. This employee called me a bitch and said I Do Not Have To Speak to you if I don't want to speak to You. This young lady was very rude. This manner is non Professional, not welcoming as I have received service from Blue State Coffee shop which is located in downtown Hartford, Connecticut. I was informed by one employee the bathroom is close due to the store preparing to close within a few minutes. I politely said that is ok if I am unable to use the ladies room. I would like to purchase a orange juice please. As I looked at the other employee I politely spoke to her., but this employee rolled her eyes and refuse to greet me. I asked the present employee what is her problem cause I did not do anything towards this lady. The employee who waited on me answered with oh she is tired from working a ten hour shift. This is not acceptable because it doesn't matter if you worked a half shift or a whole shift. You are working in an establishment company where you are consistently talking with people of different nationalities, cultures and common courtesy should be used at all times. My experience from last night will cause me not to ever enter or go into purchase any more good coffee again., nor use their facility. It is sad because their awesome blueberry muffins are fantastic. I am a Senior and my own children who are grown do not treat an adult in this manner. This young whipper snapper needs to be fired. This same employee is rude to the Connecticut Bus Drivers and she is rude to other customers other than those who speak Spanish such as her MOm. who she is kind to but other customers she refusing to listen and make sure to make your food order right. It is called taking time to Show some compassion and act like you would not mind waiting on a Senior or any older person who is investing their time in your company. Service with a smile goes a long way, if she this unfriendly employee is still working their, she will drive the best customers away. Thanks for allowing me for this review my name is Ms. Karen E. Marshall a customer and my email address is [email protected]
2nd spot we went to on our trip to Hartford. Went for breakfast with my wife and daughter. Greeted by a very friendly staff that loved our 2 year old. We had a dark roast coffee, latte, sausage/egg/cheese and turkey/egg/cheese on bagels. It was fresh and tasty. A good way to warm up on a rainy morning.
A pleasing coffee house amidst city hubbub. Located directly across from the Old State House. Great variety of coffee types are prepared with a friendly smile. A gem for me as they are willing to make any coffee, half decaf/half regular. Blue State's food menu, although not extensive, offers items for a fast breakfast or lunch. There is seating indoors as well as cafe style outside.
The prices advertised are not what the customers are charged… it cost me $10.75 for a bagel sandwich with egg and Turkey sausage and a regular coffee. The menu said $5.00 for the egg sandwich. There seemed to be almost no egg as it was southTurns out prices have risen and the disrespectful manager Margarita said… there’s a very small sign that says prices subject to change….. 3 employees were visiting with each other and not paying attention. Tables are filthy dirty. I was there at 1:30…there was only one other customer. When I complained manager Margarita said too bad… have a nice day several times. Don’t go to this place…. Dirty!! Horrible service…, WAY over PRICED!!
Good convenient l9cation
Had a BLT on sourdough bread with a hot black coffee. I turned 63 last Friday and that was the best BLT I ever had. The coffee was perfect! Thank you!
This place we happened upon while in town for museum. Nothing special really... but did the job. Kids egg sandwiches were bland. My hummus sandwich was decent only bc I asked to add Sriracha. Small menu. Scone was too dry to eat. Staff was conscientious in that they warned us it would be 15min for our food before we ordered. The signs on the wall indicate they are a family business which is concerned with ethically sourcing their coffee.
Very friendly service and delicious coffee. I order lox bagels from here and sometimes on my way to work I order iced lattes with oat-milk to-go. They are quick and I like that there’s an option to order online for pick-up ahead of time.
I had 2/2.5 hours to kill in the area while my husband was taking care of something. Decided to go to this place instead of the many Starbucks/dunkins in town. The latte was strong and hot to my liking. Their blueberry muffin was huge and delicious as well. Staff was friendly, location convinient and clean. Will be coming back for sure and trying their other menu items. The only downside was that their were no outlets/charging stations so my laptop died while I was in the middle of work. Thankfully I had a book and their coffee to keep me good company. If you are going to be doing what I did stay stay for a while time, please buy food or/and tip the staff well as you will be taking up space. Just be considerate. Overall, 10/10.
First time customer. We were greeted by a friendly person behind the counter. He gave us good recommendations for the coffee and breakfast sandwiches. My lady tried the egg/cheese bagel with hummus and I had the sourdough egg/cheese sandwich. We both had the True Blue brew coffee. The sandwiches were absolutely perfect and the coffee was also. The presentation of the restaurant was clean and inviting as well. I give 5 out of 5 stars and would definitely enjoy having breakfast here again.
