Conveniently located in downtown Hartford. Food was tasty and reasonably priced. Walking distance from the train station and the state capitol.

This bar has changed. The service and offerings have declined. They no longer offer breakfast, the menu has be slashed to mostly small bites, and the manager is incredibly rude to patrons, hotel guests, and his workers. Unless you’re an attractive woman, he will treat you like you’re a burden to him. So sad that this place is no longer worth going to and the hotel attached has declined a lot as well.

This is a very nice boutique hotel. Due to Covid, there was no valet parking and the restaurant and bar were closed. We were only there one night so it wasn’t a major issue. The lobby area is very lovely. Our room was small but served our needs. The room did provide an ironing board and iron, there were also toiletries and a hair dyer. It was very clean. The front desk staff was friendly and welcoming.

The Goodwin is a stylish boutique hotel in downtown Hartford. On the plus side, it is a short walk or drive from the train station and nearby cultural sites, including the Mark Twain House, Wadsworth Atheneum, and The Harriet Beecher Stowe Center. The room was stylishly appointed as were the public spaces. On the negative side, downtown Hartford is like a ghost town, and there is a strange empty feeling on the streets all around the hotel. There are a few restaurants nearby--all the restaurants and bars in the hotel were closed due to Covid. While the bed was large and comfortable, the pillows were cheap. I was also upset that after a long day of sight-seeing my room was not made up when I returned. I was told I had to request housekeeping during Covid, but that was not made clear at check-in or in any of the communications I received from the hotel in advance. They really should have done more to make this clear at check-in.

We stayed in Hartford to go to a concert. Very happy with the choice. A historic building lovingly maintained. The room was spacious and nicely designed. If you want a change from the standard Hilton clone hotels this is a good choice. Some reviewers complained about the lack of parking but we found the valet service quick easy and friendly

The Goodwin is marketed as the best hotel in Hartford. It's honestly, no better than a Sheraton or Hilton Hotel. For a boutique hotel, this property is lacking many services. One, there is no room service and this is NOT a COVID adjustment. There is just NO room service. No food onsite. Downtown Hartford has always been dead so food is limited. You have NO view of the city. The rooms are located inside what appears to be an indoor courtyard. For this price, I'd like to see outside. A view of a parking lot would've been better than a white, interior wall. We usually stay at the Capitol Hotel down the street (a budget hotel) and we have a beautiful view of Bushnell Park for less money. The MOST annoying part of our stay were the flies. Yes, nats in the room. They were there when we arrived and we didn't think much of it. But no one told us that if you wanted housekeeping to come up you have to request it so they appeared to multiply during our stay. This is something that should've been mentioned at check in. The beds and are super comfortable. I will give them that. Lastly, on a personal note, this hotel missed a major opportunity to capitalize on the history of the building. The closets seemed to be original but that's it. Nothing about the history anywhere. I'm from Philadelphia and if this hotel were there, you better believe the rich history of the building would be oozing from every corner. The hotel is fine. But it's just overrated. We will continue to stay at The Capitol when I come up to visit family----unless there is an amazing rate at The Goodwin.

This is a cute hotel and we would have enjoyed the stay if not for the bed which was marshmallow soft. The frame was also longer than the mattress and at shin whacking level. We had to place the garbage can and one of our bags on each corners to avoid the protruding parts. Also pillows, as someone else had mentioned -- two were very high but two were usable. Bathroom was enormous -- shower door was one of those partial ones which didn't slide so do place a towel on the floor to avoid slipping. The staff was pleasant no issues there. I would stay again if the mattresses ever got changed out.

Was looking last minute for a place to stay in Hartford and came across The Goodwin. Loved that they had larger suites for my partner and I to work out of for the day and the prices were on par with the less nice chain hotels in the area. Beautiful, well designed property and friendly staff. Would go back.

It was a very Peaceful stay. They have a Friendly staff/employees . The whole hotel is furnished with Beautiful decor from the min you walk in all the way up until you get to your room. It’s one of the best hotels Hartford has to offer!!

Lovely restored building in Downtown area. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. As the restaurant is currently closed due to the pandemic, they provide a list of area restaurants that deliver either via Uber Eats and/or Grubhub. The rooms are stylish with large bathrooms, in-room refrigerator and safe.
