First experience: when you walk in it's just a simple cafe. Nothing grand. However, the view of the water is nice with the exception of the construction going on across the way. You find out real quick how special and rare this place is once you sit down. Puffins does vocational teaching, where they teach the young and old alike that are special needs. They give them confidence and teach money/people skills. Our server was a kind young man who made sure we had everything we needed. The food! My son had the pancakes, my husband had the French toast with eggs and sausage, I had their BLT with fries. Yes all simple meals. However, it was delicious. I highly suggest you stop in and give them a try. My one and only complaint is they are closed on the weekends ❤️
As of March 2022, this place opens at 8:00, no longer at 7:00. We got there at 7:40 so they let us sit down with a menu but things didn’t really start going until 8:00. Food was good, typical diner fare but that’s what we were looking for. The view of the river was nice.
We stumbled onto this place by accident. The location is great, with a good view of New London. We ordered simple breakfast, pancakes and french toasts. But the orders took quite a long time to show up. While we were waiting we asked for a glass of water, but the server "refused" to bring it out to us. He insisted that we had to wait for food before he would bring the water out. Later, we learned that this restaurant is the vocational training school for adults with development issues, so it was not a big deal. We will only go there again if we have time to kill and do not care about when we would be served.Food was so so. Service could be better...

My black bean burger was very burnt and my husband’s regular burger patty was all crumbled. Very disappointed!
We usually come here and eat often , we LOVE breakfast here. HUGE portions with a wonderful price! Great people , great program and 100% support it! The tips go to a program for the employees to help them. This place is truly wonderful! Outside dining is great right by the water but not close enough to sit in the sand haha, the perfect range. Steven is super awesome and he is a huge Patriots fan so if you like sports he’s definitely the man! He will remember you , as do most of the employees. I recommend here 100%
The meals were very well prepared and tasted like they we made with love. The views were lovely. You don’t usually get a river view with breakfast. The most impressive part was the wonderful premise of Puffins. It brings tears to my eyes when I see what a beautiful endeavor.
This is a really nice location, but it ends there. This was quite possibly one of the worst breakfasts I've ever had in my life. The pancakes were dry, dense, rock hard and inedible. My over easy eggs were hard and rubbery. The toast was soaked in butter. What a hot mess this whole experience was. Never again.
