We visited Mr.Crab a few days ago for a small pre-birthday celebration. My husband got the chicken po'boy and the fried gyoza and I got a boil combo with crawfish, snow crab and an additional 1.2lbs of blue crab with the Mr. Crab sepcial seasoning choice and milk spicy level.It had been a very long time since I have had a Cajun style seafood boil meal like this and I wasn't disappointed! I can't say it's exactly as it was when my family would do boils when I grew up in Louisiana but it's a very comparable delicious meal. The crawfish and blue crab really scratched the itch for that familiar seafood I was missing, but I have to say the snow crab really stole the show. If I returned I would just get two clusters of snow crab and call it a day. The blue crab and crawfish were a tad overcooked for me, personally, and the blue crab specifically was not worth the effort to peel.The spice level at mild was good for me but I could likely chance the medium as well. Maybe in the future! The Mr. Crab seasoning choice that combines all the other ones was also good!My husband's chicken Po'boy was not at all traditional, kind of as expected, but he did say it was pretty good. The fries were very crispy and delicious and the fried gyoza was super crispy and went so well with the dipping sauce. Honestly I would get my own separate order in the future, they were so good!The service was good and they provide literally everything you would ever need for seafood like this including a seafood boil bib, gloves, a bucket for shells, all the utensils and crackers and even your own roll of paper towels + a wet nap at the end of your meal. It is all appreciated considering how actually messy it gets. Done come here with your nice shirt!I would definitely recommend this place if you want to get your hands dirty with some good tasty seafood!
I do not usually leave reviews but this place is VERY GOOD. I ordered crab ragoons, Juicy Cruise Special W/ mussels (mild cajun seasoning), and a cheesecake. I was completely blown away. The spice was perfect and I actually ate everything which is rare for me. I highly suggest trying this place out. The price is worth it. (They even gave me a reusable bag for take out orders)
The best seafood I have ever had fresh hot and amazing (we ordered to go)! We got a little bit of everything and it was all to die for! The lady that took my order was very friendly and helpful she made sure my order was correct read everything back to me to make sure she had it right with all the different options I chose from. She was attentive and on point. We will definitely be going back again. Recommend to any seafood lover. The muscles had no sand or grit the shrimp were huge and oysters we're sooooooooo scrumptious the flavor over everything was finger licking good!
Awesome seafood boils! The flavors are delicious! The price is reasonable and the quantity is perfect! Very happy repeat customer!
Ordered calamari, 1 snow crab leg cluster with all seasonings, fries, and the fried catfish basket for myself and boyfriend. Calamari was dry and flavorless had no seasoning at all. The sauce it came with was a odd sweet and sour sauce that just did not go with it. The snow crab boil had little to no sauce, was severely overcooked/dry, and had no flavor even though every seasoning was ordered. The catfish fry was seasonless and soggy. Also everything was stone cold. We did order take out but only live 5 minutes down the road. Super disappointed as we both only heard good things about this place. Shaking crab is immensely better as they season there food and cook everything to perfection. Will not be having Mr Crab again.
Very good food. As someone from the south I love seafood and this place exceeded my expectations. The food was spicy but just right. Even my husband who is hard to please enjoyed this place
I am bias because I compare my seafood broils to the ones in the south. It is probably the best I've had here in CT but definitely not comparable to anything from the south. I have ate at the restaurant +3 times and it's good each time.
Mr. Crab is a delightful and delicious change of pace for dinner! I didn't realize how badly we needed this option! Haha! My friends and family that have come here all LOVE it. As do I! I had the snow crab and 1lb of shrimp meal and it was perfection on a platter! Mr. Crab style seasoning, medium heat was right on the money. So, so flavorful. If you love seafood I highly recommend giving Mr. Crab's a try!
We tried both restaurant shaking crab and mr crab. Shaking crab standard are much higher than mr crab and server are more educated in shaking crab and snow crab is not good at mr crab and sauce have no taste mean it bland We do not like chicken egg served with boil in Mr crab. Our votes goes to shaking it worth spend little more with good quality seafood.
