The restaurant is located at a good location and preparation is good. Even though prices are on the higher side, the potion side is good and food is sufficient. Definitely try Lobster Avocado grilled sandwich.

Note: Dine-in only to eat on-premise, or you can take-out but required to find somewhere else to eat on the water away from the restaurant (could be a restaurant, town, or marina rule). I'd recommend the restaurant put up a sign so folks know before ordering.Take-out for two lobster rolls took about 15 minutes to prepare on a slower but sunny and warm Monday. I suppose that means they cook and cut the lobsters on demand rather than prepare the meat in advance. I'd imagine on a busy Saturday it could take far longer to get a lobster roll.Cold or hot, a decent amount of meat, on an extra thick split top bun (almost sized of a fat hoagie roll).Reason for 3 stars: Super disappointed that the lobster on both sandwiches was overcooked and mealy/rubbery. We joked to each other that had they only took 10 minutes to prepare the lobster it would have been cooked great and faster. The Hot has the meat doused in butter rather than simply brushing it on top... This lost most of the lobster flavor to butter. But the ultimate reason for 3 stars, despite the pains of inflation, is a market price above $30 when all that is served on the side is a handful of Lays chips (or similar) and a small scoop of cole slaw (pic in this review for reference). At the very least, the chips could have been better quality let alone offer fries. In today's pricey lobster roll market, you'll still find better rolls along the CT and RI shore.

After hearing about the legendary Ford’s Lobsters for so long, we made a detour on our most recent Mystic trip! It wasn’t the best weather outside, but this allowed us to get inside easily without a wait. We started with appetizers of the clams casino and a cup of lobster bisque. The bisque was very smooth and wasn’t filled with big chunks of lobster meat, which is how I personally prefer it. The clams casino were good, and the pieces of bacon were super thick and had a nice smoky flavor. My mom enjoyed her lobster roll, and the men in our family each ordered one of the famous bisque bombs. I don’t know how they finished it! The bread bowl reminded me a bit of puffy pastry and withheld the filling very well. It was mostly huge chunks of lobster with bisque over top, and you certainly get your moneys worth! I had the crab cake which was good, but a bit over cooked on the outside. Overall compared to a lot of places we’ve gone for seafood in the area, Ford’s has been one of the best! We will definitely come back!

Cute local restaurant by the water, great ambiance and courteous staff. The food is delicious and fresh but a little too pricey. The bread pudding was absolutely delicious, must try!

Get The Lobster Bisque Bread Bowl. JUST DO IT!

We have been to Ford’s for the past 8 years. We love this place with the friendly staff and the owners. The menu has changed over the years and I just want to point out that we loved the lobster Mediterranean that was cut after COVID but you still had the lobster fettuccine on the menu and it is still on your website saying mkt. priced. We came today and we’re told it is not on the menu. P,ease bring it back or update the menu online. That was a favorite as the other and now have to select something different but all are great. The quality of the food is still superb and the waitstaff excellent.

Excellent service and good. Loved the very laid back vibe. We had lobster rolls— they were cooked perfect. If you want an adult beverage- this is a BYOB - Really enjoyable lunch!

We had the clams casino, cajun shrimp and fish n chips. Everything was outstanding. So nice that we were able to bring our dog out to eat. We also had the nicest woman waiting on us. Really enjoyable lunch, thank you so much and we will definitely be back again!

HELL NO! The lobster bisque bomb SANDWICH - a freaking sandwich—- was $58!!! You are really paying for a bread with some lobster or bisque, Don’t believe or buy the hype! Not “market price” - it’s “gouging price”. Look at that sandwich and you decide if that’s worth $58!NOPE! Never coming back or will ever recommend this shack. I’d rather spend my money to get a nice bone-in rib-eye steak. Go elsewhere!

We love Ford's and appreciate that it's a BYO! Thanks, Melissa, for being such a kind and personable host. I'm impressed by the freshness and quality of the lobster, cod, and scallops. Despite innovative menu items like the lobster bomb (lobster + lobster bisque + bread bowl) or lobster/avocado toasted sandwich, what I love and will continue to come for is the classic fresh lobster on a hot buttered roll. My partner got the scallop tacos, which were excellent and flavorful as well.
