I understand prices are up on everything but it shouldn't impact quality.Been coming here for years. The burgers are put poorly together, orders are wrong constantly (was never a problem), and most importantly...what the heck happened to the tenders?!!!! We went from 4 to 3 to changing the recipe completely and getting barely 2.5 tenders that are mostly breading.Something changed at this joint and it wasn't good. What a shame.

I have lived in the area for over 20 years. Merritt gave me the first best burger of my life. I’ve moved away during Covid and have visited a few times and I have to say I can’t believe how awful the food has become. I have never gotten my food order messed up till now.I ordered twice on different occasions and they have been messed up. The crew is completely different. The old way of ordering has been changed “I guess due to Covid”.The old canteen used to be notorious for getting orders down the exact way ordered. Not the case anymore. It’s sad to see such a historic place go down. I hope they try to pick up the pieces. I was very disappointed that not only my order was wrong but it did not taste as it use too….sorry to put this review in to the owners of you seen my family you would know we have been around for years but it’s not the same to the point where my order isn’t even right anymore!

At first I thought it would be some run down grease trap in the middle of Bridgeport, but boy was I wrong. This place is a diamond in the rough. I had the fried shrimp platter, homemade onion rings, and steak egg and cheese sandwich. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection, and all made within the span of only 7 minutes. Fast food done right.

I've lived this place since I've been a kid. I've traveled throughout many different places across the world and I always try finding a burger that hits the spot like at Merritt. Nothing like their double bacon cheeseburger anywhere.Though spicy for most, their chili dog is legitimately my all time favorite. It's not your traditional chili, but it's a great tangy, zesty, smoky sauce slathered a perfectly cooked dog.I have to go everytime I'm in Bridgeport, CT.

This place went way downhill since your big debut on Food Network. Lots of changes made and unfortunately none for the better. The food was served cold and the portions were smaller than appetizer size. No tartar sauce for our clam strips. Staff was rude and forgot our to go boxes. How sad to see such a great local iconic place crumble it's a shell of what things used to be. My family and I will not be returning.

One the best places in town to grab a quick old fashioned burger or hotdog without the fancy frills of an expensive 20$ burger or the cheap blandness of chain places. Chili is HOT but tasty. The fries pair well with the food. It's worth the drive and the wait on busier days. Located near the mall and other local shops

Love this place. Stopped for a bacon egg and cheese on Portuguese roll. Most excellent. They still has a great chili dog not for the faint of heart.

My boyfriend loves the chilli dogs here. I got a veggie burger with fries was just ok. But for meat eaters this is a great place.

They’re always messing up someone’s order they charge extra for everything but can’t make sure what you paid for extra is on the order I ordered mozzarella sticks and got no marinara sauce. I had like 9 items in my order and they squished it all in one paper bag my cheeseburger was squished. It’s disappointing and annoying when you drive 20 minutes for some food and it’s my fault at this point because I keep coming back here again.Fries has no salt and it tasted like they been sitting out and soggy CHEESEburger had no cheese ..

One of the nice parts of a long drive down to NJ, is stopping at The Merritt. The chili has a bite and tastes great on a hot dog with mustard. If you stop by early, the breakfast sandwiches are tasty. Enjoy.
