My experience was a very long wait for a to-go order. Not much hustle in the kitchen. The food was ok, but not knock your socks off. I don't get a take out lunch very often so I was left disappointed to be honest. I have had friends recommend their pizza to me so I had high expectations.
My husband and I started going there before we had kid's! Our son is 16 now! we have been together for 20 + year's! The food has always great!!
I think we ordered wrong?? Maybe?? The pizza had a thick fluffy crust which I thought was ok. The sauce and the toppings were great. Minestrone soup was thick and pretty bland. The spaghetti was super thick. I'm talking almost as thick as a straw. We weren't expecting that. My teenage daughter wouldnt eat it. Again, the sauce and meat balls were terrific. Everyone else I the place seemed to love their dishes. I'd go back and try some of the other pasta dishes for sure. The lunch specials look very affordable and that might be the way to try different items.
We placed a to go order and was told it would be 30 - 40 minutes. When we went to pick it up they said it would be 20 more minutes. Went back in and waited 10 more minutes. When we finally got the order they forgot to make the sausage sandwich we ordered. Had to wait for it to be made, then we had to remind them for the ranch dressing we were charged for. No apologies from any of the staff. Definitely put a damper on our Saturday night dinner.
Poor pizza! Ordered small with mozzarella cheese olives and sausage. When I picked it up and it was overcooked burnt at some parts. Mostly olives, some sausage and no mozzarella cheese that I could see. The crust is horrible tasting like flour and cardboard. Saturday evening and no one was in the restaurant which tells you something. I will never go here again.
Bring a pillow and blanket, you'll be here a while. Food is pretty good but I guess any sustenance is great when the moon is in a different phase than when you ordered. Good luck to people getting deliveries, I've witnessed several drivers stand around, be ignored, and give up and leave.
Ordered 2 stromboli/rolls and I am immensely dissatisfied. I wanted to be forgiving in my review, but they were honestly awful.1) they put AMERICAN cheese in both of them...how is that even allowed at an "Italian" restaurant? Tasted like I was eating poorly made grilled cheese with kraft singles2) was seriously undercooked. Dough was super soft, not cooked through, not a sign of browning at all. Likely needed 5 more minutes before it should have been served3) portion was very small for the price4) marinara for dipping was the most basic, flavorless sauceI wanted this place to be good cuz I live pretty close, but I don't think I can trust them to make anything right
The pizzas and pasta are amazing. It tastes like homemade and freshly made noodles. It was busy on a Saturday night so be prepared for a potential wait. Worth the wait for sure.
I always feel nostalgic here. One of the last original Wheat Ridge fixtures! Been coming since I was a kid. And Now my kiddo loves it too! Wonderful red sauce and homemade pasta. Super tasty pizza, salads and apps too. Family friendly environment, that truly always feels like home.
I had made arrangements a week in advanced with Joey to pick up a large order. Although it was difficult to actually get in contact with him to make the order, he was wonderful on the phone and made it sound like I would have this beautifully organized meal ready to go to feed the teachers at our school for parent-teacher conferences. Well, I showed up a few minutes early to pick up our order and received only blank stares from the staff. I want to make it abundantly clear that it was blatantly obvious that this was NOT the fault of the staff working that day. I mentioned earlier that it was difficult to get Joey on the phone to place the order in the first place, I called twice and was told that only an owner could handle it and that they'd pass my info along. It took them a week to call me and if it wasn't already decided where we were getting food in a PTA meeting, I would have found another restaurant right away. What kind of owner doesn't trust their staff to take an order? Then, when I went to pick it up, the poor kids working there were absolutely blindsided by a 35 person meal just before the dinner rush. They worked their butts off to get me that order ASAP and were absolutely apologetic, polite and professional. It's pretty clear that the top-down communication in that place is lacking, to say the least. They're lucky to have a crew that worked so hard to make them look good.
