It's a little gem in Steamboat, a block away from The Laundry. When you walk in, you are transported to Southeast Asia. Randang, a spicy stew is one of our favorites. They also offer unique items not found elsewhere such as a banana wrapped steamed appetizer that I cant temwmver the name. Awake your taste buds and give this place a try. Btw, there are items for the less adventurous such as teriyaki.
Pure luck finding this spot. And so glad we did. This is a mix of Southeast Asian cuisine with Indonesian being the harder to find component. Place is simple and well put together and was quiet for 5pm with a great waitstaff - friendly and efficient! We ordered some jasmine tea and Lemper to start and moved up to Laksa and Gulai Ikan. Everything was hot in temp and on point and I have eaten street food in SE Asia. Waitress helped us understand that Malaysian Laksa IS different from Indonesian Laksa!! Gotta keep learning ?Couple points - food is very tasty and can be spicy with a nice heat burn not unlike true Cajun cuisine. Veggies are flash cooked al dente (can be surprising for some). Prices are like everything in steamboat (just as pricey as a single $5.50 taco!!).We would recommend this place wholeheartedly for being different and unique and sometimes that’s all it takes in a sea of pubs and tacos Apres ski! Will be back when we return to steamboat!
So so good, not sure why it only has 4.2. The dumplings as an appetizer are incredible and the fish curry is insanely good. I enjoyed the basil eggplant dish as well. Cute atmosphere and friendly staff! The regular hot sake was actually one of my favs as well - enjoyable drinkable and not overtly alcoholic on the palette as some hot sake is. Try this place!
We went into Sumatera with high hopes, extremely hungry. When walking in, the decor was nice and it was a cozy spot and the waiter was super nice. We ordered a pot of tea and waters, and then also all ordered an entree each. Under curries it lists it as:Curries:Panang and Massaman (mild), Yellow (medium), Green (spicy). So 2 of us ordered the mild curry "panang and massaman". We thought it was weird that they combined it like that, but thought it'd be cool to try as the whole restaurant seemed to be an Asian fusion. When the food came, the two of us got TWO entrees, meaning $18 for each entree. We told her that we wanted a single curry and on the menu, it's listed as ONE item based on the placement of the commas. She told us that it's actually two and just said sorry. We asked her if she thought it was weird that only 2 people at the table would order 2 entrees, and she said no and claimed people order 2 curries for themselves all the time - with the portion size, none of us believed that claim, and clearly multiple people made this mistake (and after us, we heard the waiter clarify which curry the table wanted behind us). After some back and forth, she finally got the owner to agree to give us a refund. Now to the food, the teriyaki chicken was good, fried rice and the stir fried noodles (kwa Wei) was good. However, the curry flavor was good but everything inside was inedible. It was all raw vegetables that were not cooked, even the potato was so crunchy, probably not even boiled for more than 1 minute. I got a total of 5 small pieces of chicken in my curry. A bowl of raw GIANT chunks of vegetables for $18 with a few pieces of chicken, not acceptable. And then, when we were paying, we saw the the pot of TEA was charged $15. Absolutely ridiculous. I never leave bad reviews for places, and this was such a traumatizing experience, I wanted to warn others. Go to Mai Thai down the road, they are FANTASTIC.
Everything was delicious and tasted fresh! Chicken masala was thick and creamy, the Momo's and dumplings were perfectly cooked. Server was super friendly and helpful.
Great place if you love undercooked and overpriced food! The service is great, but raw vegetables should never cost $18. If you want to see robbery first hand, definitely give this restaurant a visit!
Waited awhile to be sat but there was sirt of problem at the restaurant and chaos so the hostess was freaking out. A sewage smell in the front. Unfortunately we had to leave

Probably the only Google review I will ever write because this was hands down one of the best experiences I've ever had. The one server that was there was killing it by herself and was so sweet. The food was perfectly executed, full of flavor, and authentic as it gets. The people leaving bad reviews have no idea what they are talking about and are probably used to the typical Americanized garage they eat which leads them to be poorly misguided and ignorant. They don't understand that there is only one chef back there which happens to be the owner. This is a ma/pa business, please have some patience and respect. Steamboat is lucky to have a hidden gem like you guys!!!If you are complaining about the prices you probably can't afford to eat here anyways. Tip your servers folks, there is a reason why service industry workers are quiting in mass all over the states these days. Have some self respect. These are very reasonable prices for what you get.
Hole in the wall spot, we ordered the martabak, ramen, and fish curry, all of it was incredible
