Overall bland, boring and underwhelming experience. 5 stars for small, local shop with potential.Food and Drink: I ordered an egg and cheese croissant with ham. It was very bland, but I suppose what do you expect from a ham, egg and cheese sandwich? The cheese did taste nice, but overall very bland. I also ordered an iced vanilla latte, and that too was very bland. Maybe their vanilla syrup is more mild, and maybe I'll try an oat milk next time if they have it. Service was quickThe decor and aesthetic didn't draw me closer, it left me with a feeling of unfinished. I'm not sure how long they have been open, but as I looked around everything felt half way done, or lacking attention to detail. I didn't feel eager to sit inside and drink my coffee or get some work done. Always a good idea to partner with local artists, or offer a monthly artist showcase to bring some color and depth to white walls. Especially in a place like a coffee shop. Then again, maybe their style was simply not my style.5 stars for small local business! I love to see a business collaborating with local venders. Nook offers Little Man Ice Cream and brings the Denver staple to DTL. However, I am eager to see what more Nook can do to draw people in, collaborate with local businesses, and more. I will likely be back and ask more questions about their cheese, which seems to be a highlight, and further explore their menu.
I work on main st so i come in to get food / coffee. my favorite food spot on the whole block. Carissa and the rest of the staff are very friendly. quick service, friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere. the croissants are always so yummy and fresh! everyone i work with comes here at least twice a week. would recommend to anyone! don’t listen to the bad reviews we all love this place <3
A bit pricey but what is offered in terms of quality is very high. The espresso used in the iced mocha has a pretty hint of nutty flavor to it which is phenomenal ? the flavor in the cold brew is also very good. One of my go to spots
Went for a quick coffee. Immediately we were told to put on a mask. We both have medical exemptions and even after this was explained the girl remained very rude and still told us to get a mask. We went down the street and spent $30 plus tip. We vote with our dollars. It’s a shame they have ok coffee.
As a local, Nook is our go to coffee shop. The breakfast croissant w/ cheese curds is amazing and a staple for us. The fact we can pick up provisions on top of coffee is just icing on the cake and the staff is always great.
I live in walking distance to this coffee shop (and formerly European cheese shop). I want to enjoy it so badly but can not recommend due to bad experiences.- The owner has left several insulting review responses (Justin S. Below for example). Like a few other reviewers here - I also don’t want to support that type of behavior. When restaurant industry folks are all leaving similar negative feedback, may be helpful to… I don’t know… utilize that info? Help your staff out? I can’t understand why an owner would leave such petty, cringe responses. If it had not been for this, I would have given this restaurant 3/5.- Menu is almost never updated or items are out of stock for 2+ years now which screws over staff & customers. I can’t understand why with a TV menu that are traditionally easier to update vs. menus. major inconsistencies with food preparation that make it hard to see any value. I’ve ordered a (awesome) grilled cheese one week, then ordered it again for it to be literally half the size / missing key ingredients. I’ve gone back in to point out “there’s no bacon on this $7-8 stale bagel?” And have been met with snotty attitude “well, we are out of bacon”. Warn customers in advance or it’s a legitimate rip off.Last week, we ordered 4 food/lemonade items off the menu & every single item was unavailable mid-day. This is common and seems to be unfair to employees.- Redeeming quality: great location, awesome coffee & creative recipes. The cheeses are seriously wonderful. I feel there would be huge benefit in having set recipes w/ photos for line cooks or baristas for consistency.- Poor service. We have ordered from the app and shown up to items not ready. Several times, I was completely forgotten about for 15-20 minutes and have had to reorder items several times. A few of those time - staff was upset with us and other customers for simply wanting food we have paid for. When we’ve been polite & have asked for mgmt… told no & given no information. After reading review responses - I’m glad I didn’t seek out whatever manager leaves these petty google responses. Maybe this is why employees seem to be so unhelpful when mistakes are made.- frequently no sugar, stirrers, etc. for coffee making. Please tell customers in advance of ordering coffee.- Prices continue to be quite high (even for inflation/staffing shortages) for mediocre service and inconsistent, average food. So much so, this cafe really stands out in a negative way amongst Born to Bake, Dirt Coffee, in Tea and a few other nearby cafes with nicer mgmt & higher quality items for a lower cost.
I wanted to like this place. Coffee was pretty good. But what took me back was the owners response to Susan Boone's Google review below. Berating customers like that, because they left a review you have had a reaction to--that's not a business I will or would support.
Got a vanilla latte and scoop of ice cream post vet visit for my pup. We always get ice cream after the vet for a celebration. Our usual place wasn't open yet, so we went here instead. A little pricy for a medium latte and scoop. Coffee was good and service was too.Response to owner: I see that anyone who doesn't give a 5 star review gets a snarky response, but to charge $1.00 for a pump maybe 2 of syrup flavor is by far the biggest rip off. Just down Main Street at another coffee shop, they are cheaper and so are the added house made syrups ($0.50). This is a place I will NOT be coming back to again solely based on the response from the owner.
Great place to go! Quick easy and always friendly!
i visited this place recently and was not impressed. the food items are OVER priced and not a big selection of lunch items. Its mostly vegan, no meats unless you like ham. but lunch for myself and my boyfriend was nearly $40 and the food was not worth the price. The staff needs to dress more appropriate for the store.
