I was very excited to go to this bagel shop. Was VERY disappointed. The workers and young gentleman working were amazing but the manager/owner displayed horrendous behavior. She started by yelling and embarrassing the young gentleman helping us multiple times(even though he was doing a great job). She then very loudly verbally attacked her staff when we had a minor mistake on our order, leaving me feeling very uncomfortable and guilty for even saying anything. This lady needs a reality check. No reason to be that horrible to humans, none the less your own staff. NEVER RETURNING EVER AGAIN!! Food was great.
Still some of the best bagels and bagel sandwiches, in Denver. Big portions - love the New Yorker!FYI : Funny to hear complaints about impolite service, since - if we were REALLY in NYC - their honesty and frankness would be accepted as normal NYC culture.
Amazing bagels and great staff, EXCEPT for the manager…. I’ve been coming here for the past year and every single time she is rude, snarky, and makes passive AND outwardly aggressive comments about how many customers there are. Today was the breaking point. She straight up YELLED at me that I didn’t know what I was talking about when I was talking to one of her other staff members about an order mixup when she didn’t even know what the story was. The nice cash register guy offered to refund me, and as I was waiting for him to do that, she comes over and yells “WHAT’S THE PROBLEM NOW??” to me. I said she doesn’t need to yell or be rude because her business is flourishing. Instead of apologizing she responds with “Well that’s just the way it goes.” I said, “if this is how your business is run, then I’m done coming here” to which she responded “good.”Do NOT come here unless you are prepared to be treated like garbage, even though YOU are the paying customer. It is absolutely not worth it in my opinion, and we won’t be coming here again. This business rides solely on their good bagels because if it relied on her good customer service they’d be out of business…
I should have read reviews before coming, but assumed 4.2 stars meant it would fine. I’m from out of town and spent a while looking for a good bagel spot close to me. This was still 20 mins away, but seemed better than going to a chain spot. As soon as got there we saw two customers sitting at a table in the corner and one customer waiting, but when the two ladies working saw our group of 7 walk in one of them said, “Oh boy” loud enough we could hear it and the other proceeded to tell us, “there’s only two of us here so it’s gonna be a while and we’re running out of bagels.” Her tone was short and snappy and she made another remark about being non-stop since 7am. As a large group we understand that we aren’t going to get the same speed of service as a single person or couple, so we still stood at the counter and looked at the selection, but I’d rather not give my money to people who can’t even bother to greet us before treating us as the biggest inconvenience to their day.
Gone down hill over the eight years I’ve lived in lakewood. Been yelled at when walking in the door and one time i asked for a special order which an employee did but forgot to charge more for additional cream cheese. The owner verbally abused the young girl in front of everyone. Another time the owner tried to get me to buy the bagel shop from her. Obviously the pandemic hasn’t been kind to this lady but that’s no excuse to treat customers and staff like a maniac. Just close the business if you can’t handle it!Bagels are fine
Alright. Let's get it straight, this bagel shop is delicious. This low rating has nothing to do with the bagels or the employees. Read on to find out what my beef is and why the low rated feedback had to be provided.I enjoy the salt bagels, the sandwhiches, and the coffee. My wife and I have been to this bagel shop a handful of times and there is always one thing that is consistent with the delicious food.....The manager/owner is an absolutely unpleasant woman. Customer service is lost on her and she is condescending to her employees. What makes it worse is that most of her employees appear to be young, high school kids. It would be better for business if she stayed in the back area where she can remain unseen, running the shop and baking bagels. She is better served doing that than interacting with her customers or allowing people to wintness how she treats the employees. This week I was at the bagel shop and there was a woman that ordered some sort of coffee drink from a very nice kid with glasses. The kid is always nice and is always friendly with me when I go in. The shop was busy and loud when I was there, because who doesn't love a good bagel? The owner handed the woman her coffee and the woman said she ordered sugar free vanilla syrup with her coffee. The employee must have misheard the order, so the owner turned to her employee at the register and shouted at him three times to "listen, listen listen" in a rude manner while also refusing to achknowledge the woman when she thanked the owner for adding the sugar free syrup. My opinion, she embarrassed the employee in front of a shop full of customers and other employees. I get it, your shop is popular and it can probably be overwhelming. Maybe instead of spending all of your time at work and taking your bad attitude out on your high school kid employees and customers, you could take some time away from the hustle and bustle of baking bagels and go on a hike, go fly a kite, get into beekeeping, learn martial arts, or even get into Irish dancing. But what do I know? At the very least, just be nice to your employees.Don't worry though. You'll still be getting my business, I'll be back to keep an eye on you.
Went in this morning to get a bagel and all the owner did was complain about how busy they were and she was ready to lock the doors. She also gave two people behind me their orders before mine. There were several people that were in line that ended up walking out and I almost walked out after paying for my bagel too! I ended up calling back an hour later just to talk to her to give her feedback and she was very rude expressed that she is very sarcastic person and that she’s not going to change her ways and talked over me the entire time and wasn’t receptive to any of the feedback I was trying to give her. Been coming here for years and since she took over this place has gone down hill. It’s dirty and vey unwelcoming. Never the same staff… hmm I wonder why! I will never go back!
Overall a great spot with a nice selection of bagels and cream cheese along with other sandwiches on bagels. I personally had the French Toast bagel with cream cheese and a Vanilla Latte. The bagel was amazing and I'm a fan of a big portion of cream cheese which is a thing here. The coffee was good but I couldn't drink it for 30 to 40 minutes after getting it since it was oversight incredibly hot. I would come here again though and recommend it.
We just discovered this gem.in our neighborhood! Superficial service. Food was amazing and so were the lattes.
Pretty good food but terrible customer service. They left off part of my order and when I called, the lady over the phone acted like I was stupid and couldn't comprehend what I was trying to tell her. Then finally she told me that they left off part of my order because they were out of it, but didn't bother to tell me and still charged me for it. Honestly skip this place its not worth the bad customer service for a bagel.
