This was my first time here. We ordered 2 whole no sugar added apple and blueberry pies, both double crusted. We ate them way too fast. They were fantastic.
Food here is old fashioned, I think. Made by someone in the back with common ingredients and presumably fresh fruits and creams and whatever else that goes into pies.I've had their pies about 3 times.I had their strawberry rhubarb pie, their coconut cream, and their peach.Flavor was pretty good. Not the best. Way too much crust for the amount of filling. I prefer my pies to have more filling. The crust is kind of buttery but also way too much flour in my opinion. Has definitely a high flour taste.Price seems way too high. Around 20 for pies.If you're craving some granny style, not the kind that's amazing at baking pies but just some ordinary grandma, then this might do it for you. Also the place has a weird urine smell, like they're hoarding animals. I guess that adds to the whole granny's house feel.
Four of us stopped in for a slice of pie about 30 minutes prior to closing time. The young lady at the counter was very helpful when we asked about (many) different pies, and we ended up getting her recommendation, the Peanut Butter pie - to die for! Excellent from the first bite to the last. Our friends got the Boston Cream, which they said tasted excellent, but the cake layer was a bit dry. Definitely coming back, maybe for a whole pie!
I raved about your pie shop until last week. I drove there from Westminster just to buy a slice of lemon meringue pie for myself and a friend. First, the young man at the counter said you were out. Then a young woman double checked the fridge and found half a pie left. She cut a piece and put it in a bag while I looked at buying a slice of chocolate mousse pie you had. I was heartbroken when I got home and looked at these pieces of pie. So pathetic and not appealing. I’ve purchased a slice before and the lemon meringue was beautiful! Featured the stiff high beauty of the merengue. This did not. I had egg on my face when my guest looked at your slices of pie. Sigh
The best homemade pie shop!I found this gem years ago. I wanted pies not made on an assembly line and real lemon meringue pies. Boy, did we get lucky! All the pies here are scrumptious and their breads (banana nut, zucchini, etc) and lunches are delicious too. Order ahead around the holidays...you'll be so happy you did ?❤️
Drove by and saw PIE SHOP so HAD to stop in! Darling place AND has soups quiches and sandwiches and soups ect! Coke products a plus lol We will have to come back to try more pies!
Are the desserts very pretty and tasty? Yes.Is it worth $5 for a small slice of pie or $30 for a whole pie? I don’t think so. But I’m glad I finally tried it.Their lunch menu has a deal that includes a slice of pie and a drink, and that could worth trying.
We went on pie day and they did not disappoint. We will be stopping by every time we’re in the area.
Great little independent pie shop and cafe. We tried the lemon meringue, blueberry cheese pie and NY cheesecake. Everything was great especially the lemon meringue which was perfectly tart and not overly sweet. They also have a breakfast menu, savory pot pies, sandwiches, cookies, pastries, ice cream and good coffee. This is a hidden gem in Lakewood and apparently has been around for 30 years.
Great place! Not a baker but the pies are fantastic! Every time I bring a pie from Granny's to a Holiday diner, she steals the show. LOVE to Granny Scott!
