I took my Mom here for Mother's Day. She loved her dish, Lamb Chops, and I loved the Red Trout. We also splurged on desert, Key Lime Pie and I forgot the name of the other. Service was great, and the owner is very gracious. Nice to have this locally owned restaurant in the neighborhood.
The food matched up to the expectations based on the more refined interior. We were sat instantly with no reservation on a Wednesday night. The hosts were very attentive and polite. Service was awesome, and really makes you feel like they care about your experience. Food was absolutely incredible. Delicious bread, awesome meatloaf, incredible rib eye special with a yummy blue cheese steak butter. Grandpa enjoyed his pistachio pork chop also. Hibiscus cocktail was sweet but yummy. Overall a really nice experience and I wish I could take the first bite of that rib eye all over again. Melt in your mouth level steak right there!!! Super satisfied and can’t wait to come back.
I was surprised when my Aunt told me there was a 5 star restaurant on Union. She made reservations and several of us went. Oh My, what an amazing treat. From the outstanding service, cloth napkins, wine and amazing menu, everything was perfect. We tried the fish, scallops and pasta. We could not decide which was the best, and still took home leftovers. The prices were very reasonable for a meal of this quality. Highly recommend!
240 Union has stood the test of time, while ensuring their menu is fresh, atmosphere inviting and service EXCELLENT! We have a LONGGGGGG history with 240 Union. We've been going there since they opened their doors in the late 80's. My late father loved fine dinging and good wine so 240 Union became one of our favorites through all of the important milestones in life ... family meals, meals with out of town visitors, anniversary's (pretty much every year on our anniversary for at least 15years out of 23!), birthdays & even our wedding rehearsal dinner in 1998. We've never walked away from 240 Union with anything but a positive reaction and last night was exactly that - a positive experience from the moment I called coming down the mountain from Evergreen & my daughter's soccer game to see if they had room for us, to our fabulous server (Josh!? I am terrible with names - long black hair), to the food, which of course if the most important. We've ALWAYS had the pork chop .. it's the best dish on the menu & really on ANY menu in Denver if you ask me. Last night we decided to sway a bit & while my husband couldn't resist the pork chop, my mom & I split the fish special and bison pepperadelle. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS .. every last morsel & the portions and prices are really a bonus! We were laughing because we had an fun but INSANELY expensive meal at Shannahans a few week's before & don't get me wrong, that has it's 'place' for celebrations, but prices have gone up so much, its just hard to justify $80 lamb chops & $75 steaks, when 240 Union has the same quality & about 1/2 the price. Thank you 240 Union for staying the same with a refresh of your menu regularly (which is impressive - so much to choose from!), awesome wine list and the freshest food for miles. I'm sure what really set 240 Union aside is that the owners are THERE, serving the food, interacting with customers & making sure everyone is happy & it's clear their culture must be good because every server we've had in over 30 years has been positive, kind, helpful, happy, fun, etc! The open concept of the kitchen still works too! WE WILL BE BACK for the next 30 years ... THANK YOU 240 Union for always doing your best & making us feel special at every celebration we've had. Last night was just a 'let's find something fun on the way home from soccer' meal & it turned into one of the best nights of the week!
We had a group reservation for the private dining room. The food selection was very good and tasty. The wait staff was attentive and they offered a good selection of beers and wines. would definately recommend the food for dinner.
I was a regular for 15 years at this place: The GOOD NEWS: great staff, great food. THE BAD NEWS: an offensive female customer who lives at the bar, day and night. She has no life and pretty much spends most of her waking hours there. Her behavior is atrocious, She interrupts staff and customers and intrudes on your evenings. Not at first, but when she sees that you are coming there she starts her awful behavior. I put up with for years and then had enough. Why this owner has not banned her is beyond me. He has already lost a few customers because of her, including me, my wife, and two of my friends. So if you go for dinner avoid the bar
Excellent food and exceptional service - Allison was very attentive to our table on a busy Friday night. It was refreshing. I've lived in Lakewood for years and had never been here. We'll be back. Thank you for a great evening!
240 Union turned out to be the perfect spot for our wedding anniversary dinner tonight. We hadn't been back to the restaurant since they've updated the decor and the restaurant looks great. We started our meal with the Colorado Beets & Pears salad and the soup of the day which was Split Pea and Ham. This set the tone for a delicious meal. There were generous yellow and red beets with lots of pecans and a wonderful goat cheese! This was by far the best split pea I've EVER had. It wasn't your mother's plain soup but had the perfect spices with the addition of onions, celery, and carrots. The ham was not a canned product but bits and pieces of ham hock meat - yum! It was more like a hearty pot pie filling.I also ordered the Pank Cursted Crab Cakes which were mostly clam and were crisped perfectly. My wife ordered the Duck Leg & Thigh Confit. It came with a generous portion of duck on a bed of creamy risoto and spinach. My entree was the Big Seafood Soup, Amalfi Coast inspired with (3) generous sized scallops, (3) clams, (3) mussels, and (3) jumbo shrimp in a garlic tomato sauce/soup. The mussels were the only item that didn't meet the size of the other items. You have to order pineapple upside down cake when you see it on the menu. A la mode with coffee finished off the nights meal. If your mouths not watering yet, see the pics!
Mostly good food. We ordered the crab cakes, tri colored cesser and the half chicken. The crab cakes were more like fish cakes, there was no taste of crab unfortunately. The tri colored salad was good but as a $12 salad it a bit overpriced. The chicken was very tasty, The garlic was caramelized and made for a great sauce. The green beens were good but its hard to screw them up, they were very basic and plan. The cheddar hush puppies where very tasty, they probably were the biggest surprise.
This establishment has been around for many years. The menu is adjusting to the times. Instead of Chilean sea bass, for exple, you might have meatloaf (it was very good). The lunch portions were appropriate and prices still fairly reasonable. We were celebrating two birthdays and were compted two desserts. It was staffed well and the dining room was very clean.
