It was a cloudy but hot and unusually humid day in the beautiful hills of Golden, Colorado and what better way than to cool off with some Hawaiian vibes! I got the Purple Haze and it was extremely tasty! I went just after Noon and it took about 10 minutes to get the smoothie because they are very busy making other items on their menu like açaí bowls, wraps, and other superfood items! The atmosphere is chill and reminiscent of the beach and ‘ohana!
Good healthy foods a little pricy though for two it was $50. The salads had it all but a bit much for the average traveler looking for food. $10 smoothies but I would buy one again. Very good and clean eating foods. Over all a great experience friendly staff and bright place to relax.
Reply to owner's response: As I stated before, we were not told chickpeas were out, therefore were not offered one of your 30 alternatives, even after we went up to the counter and asked for the chickpeas once we realized they were missing. Training your staff to offer alternatives would be a great solution and we would have happily accepted. Keyword training because the young ladies working clearly didn't know what to do, not their fault.Original post: We really wanted to love this place for it's healthy plant based offerings, but they've got a lot of room to improve.We ordered two items off the bowl/wrap menu both that included cumin chickpeas, as does everything on that menu. We were not told they were out of chickpeas at the time of purchase. So we paid full price and only til we started eating did we realize the protein component was completely missing.If you're menu relies so heavily on one item, there's a Safeway around the corner, go buy some chickpeas.Also tap water dispenser tasted terrible.Beach monkey smoothie was alright, maybe go for an acai bowl?
Great if you have time to kill. I’ve been here multiple times because the açaí bowls are delicious, and the atmosphere is friendly, casual and fun. It has never been quicker than 20-30 minutes, and has take over 40 minutes on two occasions. One time I had to go in and ask for it, and they had it in the fridge because they “forgot I was here.” Overall very tasty, but do not expect fast or efficient service.
Family owned Kona Bowls after living in Kona Hawaii. Island themed indoor and outdoor fresh air seating. Downtown, by the Golden sign.
Just had lunch there yesterday with a few friends and we will definitely be back! Such amazing and tasty food. The shroom lattes were to die for. Also, super friendly staff and a great ambiance. I am definitely a fan!

Cool spot. Nice staff. Delicious food.I enjoyed one of the Buddha bowls. I will be back to try more of their many vegan/vegetarian options. By far the most vegetarian options in Golden. And they do solid work composting what seems like all waste.Keep up the good work, Kona Bowls.
Kona has a great menu whether your looking for a quick snack, treat or healthy lunch. The only downside is their store set up where the menu is written in small print and off to the side which is not the most convenient to view, as you have to block the line to order.
Love this place. I enjoy a healthy lunch there once a week (sometimes more). Love the Volcano Bowl and the Tiki Toast. And the newly installed garage doors are perfect. Great local business run by a wonderful Golden family.
