Nice pub environment, friendly staff, pretty good food for pub. I found this one by accident- just walking by and it was a pleasant surprise. I’ll go back for supper some evening- their menu looks great.
Great selection of craft beers. Menu was a good variety. The shrimp piccatta was delicious
Met a friend at the Crown today for a cold brew and lunch. I had the double beer battered onion rings served with chipotle ranch and a garden salad. Both exceeded my expectations. The onion rings were incredibly light and crispy. Perfectly salted. The chipotle ranch dipping sauce had a nice level of heat. Very creative. The portion was huge and the cost was very reasonable at $8.95. My small garden salad was just as good, also a good value at $5.95. Served cold. Fresh and crunchy. My friend - vegan - ordered the Portobello mushroom marinated in fresh herbs and white balsamic vinegar but without the provolone or the brioche bun. It was tasty. $13.95. Service was friendly and outstanding. Our Guinness was served at the proper temperature which released its flavor. Guinness shouldn't be served ice cold, but rather somewhat under ice cold. Perfect. Overall, a great experience. I recommend the Crown if you want atmosphere and a traditional Old Town pub experience.
This is an excellent restaurant. The fish and chips happy hour special is an excellent deal. The fish and tarter sauce are delicious. If the batter for the fish was lighter/crispier this would definitely be a five star. I’ll be back because I know they have done five star dishes. My son loved the Rueben sandwich.
Consistently one of the better places to eat in downtown FC. The menu doesn't change much--they seem to have perfected each recipe. I have tried everything and there is not a miss on the menu. Service is great as well. Very comfortable and accomodating, regardless of how busy they are.
I ordered a portobello sandwich and a fish and chips to go. This review is about the portobello sandwich. Every portobello sandwich/burger I’ve ever had in the past had a big thick marinated mushroom with a thick meaty texture and the flavor of the marinade was not overwhelming. This sandwich had two thin flat little mushroom discs (possibly smashed baby Bellas? ) That had no mushroom flavor at all. The only flavor was vinegar. It was basically a vinegar sandwich and was inedible. The arugula, sliced tomato, provolone and brioche bun would likely have been fantastic with a thick, flavorful portobello mushroom, But when I tried to pull off the vinegar diskettes and eat just a cheese arugula & tomato sandwich, It still contained the strong vinegar flavor residue of the removed vinegar diskettes and was still inedible. Regarding the fish and chips, my guess is that it’s pretty fantastic if you eat it at the restaurant. In our case we ordered it “To Go” and I got stuck behind a train on the way home so it was cold and soggy by the time I got home. (Based on the heavy condensation water in the box my guess is the soggy came from steam in the box when it was packaged hot). Not the Resturant’s fault. Fish and chips doesn’t really reheat well. My advice is if you’re going to order fish and chips, eat it at the pub when it is freshly cooked and hot.
Has a cook that think medium well of well done eater dont know hownthey like their steak. It came out oretty rare. Terrible. Sent it back and ive been waiting 10-15min. Still.dont have my food.
