Really quite a pleasant evening. Food was good but not great. Sitting outside very relaxing.
We have Jayâs Bistro on our Mt Rushmore of restaurants in Old Town (our fav spot in Colorado!!). Great food, live jazz and outdoor seating!
Jay's has been one of my family's go-to special occasion places for many years. This last visit was a little disappointing mainly because we requested a quiet location but got a booth near the reception desk that was quite noisy even early in the evening. When I requested a quiet location through the Open Table app, the restaurant replied that the restaurant does not get loud until later in the evening. The restaurant does have a quiet section in the back that would have been a much better location for us. A couple of our party members could not participate in the table conversation because they are hard of hearing, even with hearing aids, and the background noise was too loud. The service was great and the food was good.
We had not been to Jay's for a long time. (Covid related issues) Jay's used to be our regular happy-hour haunt. Our return last night was a pleasant surprise and a reminder of how yummy their food and beverages are! The bar staff was awesome and a delight to watch. The manager solved a gift card issue in moments and we were on our way... It won't be a long time before we return.
Food was ok. Presentation definitely different then you expect. So ask before you order. Example my husband ordered shrimp and grits arrived with a small round disc of grits with 5 grilled shrimp, over cooked on top. Took a long long time for meals. A gentleman kept coming over apologizing for the long wait. No explanation and nothing comped, example dessert, for the delay. Our waiter was great. The folks clearing were good. Ask for a booth in the back for less noise. Or outside on the patio.

Our visit to Jay's last evening exceeded expectations. Every server and manager was attentive, pleasant and went out of their way to make sure our party of three adults were taken care of. Understandably because there was a very large party in a private room, the kitchen probably was overwhelmed. We sat in a booth in view of the bar and we for sure knew the bar was extremely busy all evening long. We couldn't help but observe how well Jay's team worked together. They likewise seemed very committed to making sure all guests felt welcomed and had their requests quickly registered and fulfilled. Each of our party ordered different menu items and each commented how delicious his/her meal was. The music from the live jazz band completed a lovely dining experience. Fort Collins has many terrific restaurants. Jay's is one of the very best. We are out-of-towners who visit FTC a couple times each year. After our dining experience last evening, we will make certain Jay's is on our OpenTable calendar next visit.
Fine dining at its best, fantastic food, attentive staff and a relaxing atmosphere. Itâs just what we were looking for to celebrate our anniversary. We finally found a place with both amazing food and atmosphere, calm and relaxing, not a place thatâs so noisy you canât have a conversation. Weâve found our new favorite place, and Rose was amazing!
