Not what I expected to find in Durango, but really glad it is here. My wife had never been to a BBQ restaurant. She had to learn about eating ribs with your fingers.Very good rib meal, served quickly at the counter. We were too full for the pie dessert.Definitely a place to return to.
Tried the sampler as well as Brisket Sandwich. Nearly everything in the sampler was moist and tasty. Pulled pork had a great smoky flavor but the brisket was honestly one of the worst I ever had which surprised me for BBQ house. Very dry so I tried to smother in sauce it got to the point I was just using the meat as a means to delivery the sauce to my mouth and ended up pulling half the brisket off the sandwich so the bbq soaked bread and less meat would be easier to chew and swallow. I would honestly eat here again for the other meats I would simply avoid the brisket.
In some strange twist, the now-defunct Farmington location was always better. It's still, like always, OK for BBQ and really good for fast food. But, some of the meats were dry and service was not great compared to how it used to be -- I regret tipping. Took prompting to get everything ordered, asked for bread and got none, asked for sauce and got 1 cup for 5 lbs of meat. Maybe it's belt tightening in the current economy... but it's not how I remember it. Oh well, one more thing to not miss after leaving Durango.
They lay out was pretty cool. Walk in order at window and they ring you up and give you your food right then. Lots of room inside and outside to sit. I got the ribs and a baked potatoe ( not loaded) but the loaded ones looked great and a full on meal by itself. They can load your potatoes with any kind of meet. The people working there were soooo nice plus the were fun to joke around with. Everyone was laid back and friendly. I would go back for bbq again for sure.??
We walked from our hotel next door after enjoying our selections from the local beer cooler and also the nearby dispensary. I am a BBQ enthusiast and connoisseur, and had no complaints about the food.
BBQ sauce tasted like vinegar, it seemed like it was watered down. When I told the employees It was my first time. They just looked at me without bothering to explain the menu or give any recommendations. I had the brisket. It was dry. The ribs were chewy. Nothing really had a flavor. The only thing there worth coming back for was the chicken sandwich. Otherwise this would of been a 1 star review.
Being from texas this was a fun place to try and it won’t disappoint! Brisket was so tender as was the turkey. Ribs and sausage were perfect AND they have some really fun different sauces to try. Mac n cheese was a kid pleaser and the coleslaw, I don’t know what it is, it’s got something different but delicious. Picking up more today to see if we can figure it out ??
Per the sign out front, we tried the chicken sandwich and some sides. All of the food was on point, and the to-go margarita was amazing. Highly recommend.Did I mention it's a short 30 minute drive away from a ski resort??
Having lived in Texas for almost 30 years these people have no clue what Texas barbecue is. Sorry disappointed. They don’t have platters with sides. Everything is alacart. The Elgin sausage was good. But the brisket was dry and cold. The beans were more like a chili. Just overall poor. Was looking so forward to going there. Wish I could gave given them a better rating
We came here because it was next door to our hotel and we were tired of driving and didn’t want to deal with downtown parking and traffic. Surprise - it was fantastic! Not fancy but comfortable to eat in, and the food was great. Husband got ribs and beans, and I got the brisket sandwich, which I think was the best choice. The meat was delicious and very generous - I actually couldn’t finish it. Cheesy potatoes to go with it. Reasonable prices for sure. I also think this would be really fun in the summer because there’s a huge covered outdoor dining patio (not for February though!). Nice staff and quick service, Bonus - we were greeted by 4 huge bucks in the parking lot, rubbing antlers on the trees! (Smoked venison, anyone?)
