Durango local here. I came to Mama Silvia's when it first opened a few years ago and was very pleased. My recent visit was not good at all. This restaurant has really gone downhill since it opened. We made a reservation for 7:30 pm and arrived at 7:29. We stood at the front kiosk for 5 minutes until we were acknowledged by anyone. They seemed short staffed so we let it slide. After we sat down the waiting continued. We were served water and bread and our drink order was taken. Drinks took well over 15 minutes to arrive. As we waited the server did not stop by to check in and was nowhere to be found. We waited and waited and finally, our drinks came in. The wait for food was average. Not slow or fast. The server was more attentive and things were looking up. The appetizers were good for both of us. We had the polenta cake and mozzarella sticks. They were very good. Later, our entrees came and ho boy was it bad. I ordered the veal piccata and my friend got the chicken parmesan. Veal piccata is supposed to be light, with hints of lemon, white wine, and capers. It is my go-to when I visit a new Italian restaurant to judge quality. It is simple to make with minimal ingredients. Mama Silvia's version was way off. They had a dark, almost gravy-like brown sauce that was heavy on mushrooms. The sauce is supposed to be a white wine sauce. That's what their own menu says! I have never seen veal piccata butchered so badly. No impressed. My friend was also disappointed with the chicken parmesan. An Italian staple that is probably one of the most popular items people order. The chicken was dry, the bread coating was soggy, and there was way too much sauce. We asked for the check and the waiting began. At this time the restaurant was closed. Only a few tables remained. About 6-7 tables including our own. It took over 10 minutes for the check to arrive. Of the remaining tables, only two were still eating. I cannot fathom why getting a check would take more than 5 minutes when service has pretty much warped up. In summary, I am very disappointed. The food quality has declined and the service was not that great. At the prices this restaurant is charging, I would expect a lot more quality.

My veal was overcooked. Everything else was very nice.

Server was slow and didn’t know the menu. There didn’t have a full menu available ( no veal). Food was ok but expensive. Restaurant appeared clean and atmosphere was wonderful

We had an amazing Italian meal this evening. The food and service was top notch. We will be back soon!

Absolutely spot on Italian restaurant. Authentic in every way. Our party of four raved about the quality and flavor of the linguine alle vongole and lasagna and chicken parmesan. Outstanding service as well

Lovely in every way--delicious food--both of us ordered the chicken saltimbocca which we have both had many times--one f the best ever. I wish I had had room for the delicious sounding desserts. The place is tiny and could use a little design work, but we really enjoyed our meal very much

Fabulous Italian food with a warm and comfortable atmosphere. The staff, headed by Shelby, is friendly and warm. She made me glad I had come to Durango and eaten at Silvia’s. I loved the place.

Absolutely delicious and amazing and friendly staff! Was seated as soon as we arrived .

Delicious, traditional Italian menu with excellent service

We asked for a quiet table & were seated in an alcove between their 2 restaurants, the Italian & a sushi place. Servers were constantly crossing in front of us between the restaurants. The 2 of us were seated at a table for 6. It was awkward. The olive oil & balsamic for bread dipping was a nice touch, but with ordinary sliced bread, it was OK. The veggies in the pasta primavera, especially the broccoli was not even al dente. It was just undercooked and too crunchy to eat. The tomato based sauce had no real flavor. I asked for parmesan cheese. What I got was the dried shelf stable stuff. I was very hungry & ate it but I was disappointed. Companion raved about the Chicken Saltimbocca Romana. The entree had a lot of flavor & the sauce was quite good.
