Neat restaurant located on a working ranch. Simple menu of a few things done very well and very efficient, friendly service. Top notch ingredients and cooking made for an awesome meal. We sat inside, as it was a little chilly outside, but we’ll definitely be back to enjoy the views from the outdoor seating.
For fellow winos: the worst selection, of the worst obtainable wine. For beeheads: one or two steps up from wine. For burger fans: great burger, a little over slathered in mayo based sauce for my taste -- order it on the side and you are home free! For menu experimenters -- you're on your own. No sign of a chef sensibility anywhere. For bacon lettuce and tomato fans -- in season this ought to be ground zero. Ordererd twice just to make sure they really intended to make these with two modest strips of bacon -- yep! Too many vegetarians around here, or bean counters. For salad fans -- its fresh, it's large, and its hard to eat. If you get one with beets in it, count the beets before you conclude it's just fine. There really is no service -- counter to order at, food you pick up, garbage you pick up. 20% tip for that?
Cool place with excellent food and beer. Helped us refill our tanks after a day of skiing with the kids. Yum!
Loved the Ranch & the burgers were the best in the Area! Customer service was excellent & friendly
We stopped by here on the way back to Durango from Silverton. This had been highly recommended as a must do by the hotel staff where we stayed. Initially were disappointed when their website said they were closed, and were stopping at the Honeyville place across the road, but we saw cars there so stopped by anyway. we were not disappointed very long. Food was really good; a little high priced but worth it to get the quality of the food there. I had the blue (this is how the menu spells it) cheese, bacon, BBQ burger and wife had the Green Chile Pico burger. Both were very good, as were the fingerling fries. We were not impressed with the Strawberry Rhubarb drinks though. Staff were very friendly. Will surely stop by if we're in the neighborhood again.
James Ranch is the kind of place you feel lucky to have discovered. It’s a place we visit EVERY time we are in Durango without fail. The food is the best in town, the ambiance is cozy and friendly. The people are the kind that make you feel important and special. If you haven’t been, go ASAP! If you have, you know what I’m saying is true!
Had a burger with fries. Burger was good although would’ve preferred to have cheddar cheese as an option. Belford cheese was almost too strong. Ingredients all fresh so that was a plus. Fries were slightly cold. Meal was good and better than average burger but just can’t give 5 stars.
The food is very good but on the expensive side two burgers fries and two sodas $45 +
This farm to table restaurant is the real deal, and totally worth the drive. We ate grass fed burgers while looking out over mountains and fields. Creative, innovative and yet familiar menu items beckon us back to sample them again. We checked out the little store before going around to the grill. Man, I wish we could smuggle some steak and cheese on the airplane! We settled for chocolate and a dried salami.
Always great, easy seating in or out
