Gorgeous atmosphere, brilliant cocktails, phenomenal food, and the staff are fantastic. Recommend every aspect of this Tavern
We are locals and have visited this restaurant many times. This time was THE WORST. My food Skirt Steak Bulgogi was almost $30. The meat was overcooked like shoe leather, the sauce on the dish was so hot I could barely eat it-and then there's the waitress, Edie, one of THE worst waitresses I've ever had. Totally inattentive, totally disinterested in our experience, horrible service. I will NOT be going back there. So sad; I used to love the fritters there and used to love the service there from Dave, Sarah and Lucas. None of them are there anymore. What a loss.
As customers who have loved El Moro for years, we felt like we were under dressed and unappreciated. So don’t worry, we won’t be back soon.
We stopped by on a Saturday. Unfortunately, El Moro doesn't serve lunch on weekends. They serve brunch until 2 pm and then close until dinner at 4 pm. I can understand maybe Sundays, but there's really no excuse for not having a lunch menu on a Saturday in the tourist season. Especially since few downtown Durango restaurants seem to be open for lunch. Despite the lack of a lunch menu we made do with a light brunch. Joy the waitress was great. Attentive, welcoming, and professional. We looked for Sutcliffe wine on the list but it was sadly missing.
A nice mix of different cultured foods presented in an elevated manner. I had the lamb burger and it was lovely and the next day I had the mojo risin' sandwich with a side salad topped with red wine vinegrette. Their prices are super affordable and the quality is great. They even have a ladder for their booze. You'll just have to go! ?
We were able to make a reservation so were seated promptly. Our server was attentive, helpful, and friendly. I had the squid ink pasta and shrimp. It needed a little salt (quickly remedied) but had a great buttery, garlicky taste. My husband had the harissa ribs, which were tender and nicely spiced without being too hot. We started off with the bone marrow appetizer, which was large, soft with good spice, and served with crostini. Excellent! We would definitely go back.
Such a great experience last night with our bartender Leslie that we decided to come back for night two. The General Manager Dave went so far above and beyond that I will be a regular anytime I am in town. Such an awesome time!
Everything we ordered was delicious. Seating for 6 was plentiful. Wednesday meatloaf sandwich, roasted tomato sandwich, cuban, salmon and daikon salad plus the kids menu was a hit with the kids. Ambience inside for lunch was great - would be even better at night with the mountain tavern atmosphere.
Best Bloody Marys . Food is as so good and the customer service was the best, our waitress was so helpful and gave us the history of the building and place
Fabulous experience! Delicious food, great service and fun evening. Loved the make your own chartreuse board.
