Nice nostalgic experience. Sat at the "bar". Very busy great staff! Food is terrific if you like biscuits and gravy. We knew this was a diner and it did not disappoint. Give it a try
Great breakfast spot! Although I'm usually not a fan of green chili, "The cure" was really good! This is a very busy place but there's a reason for that. You should have breakfast here if you're visiting Durango! The service was quick and extremely friendly!
Oh man, I don’t know where to even begin. Great classic diner. Lots of locals eat here, which is always a good sign. This place is delicious and worth the wait if there is one. Staff is SO nice and on top of it—coffee, water and drinks were consistently replenished. Sit at the second bar top if you can because watching the cooks is so mesmerizing. If they’re busy, there’s a bit of a wait for your food because there are just two cooks, but like I said, worth the wait. Hash browns are a must—they grate the potatoes on the griddle right in front of you. The green Chile sauce is so good, we left with two jars. I had the handheld burrito smothered in Chile sauce and my husband had a cheeseburger with a side of hash browns. Both were excellent. Highly recommend Durango Diner!
Stopped here after getting over the Red Mountain pass and we were ready for a good breakfast and hot steaming coffee. This was just the spot. Loved their blueberry pancake and my husband loved the breakfast sandwich on an English muffin. From the road it looked like this place was closed ( a Friday at 8:00 am) but we parked ( at meter parking) and checked it out. Place was almost full but tables in back weren’t. Service was friendly! Glad we had breakfast here.
It was a wait to get in, but now I can see why. We had a delicious breakfast and we enjoyed seeing the food made right in front of us. Workers move very quickly. They talk to anyone with a friendly hello. Everyone made us feel welcome. And it was nice seeing workers in action. I enjoyed the service and the hard work of all employees. From dishwashers, to dryers, To runners, to the cooks, to the waiters and waitresses, you all make it work.
The breakfast this morning was amazingly good! The four of us shared a homemade cinnamon roll and then each ordered different breakfasts. Good hometown cooking and the hash browns were the best I ever had! It is a true, old style diner with the best that means. Absolutely THE Best service and the waitress clued us in to many local favorites. She truly made our morning!!!
I love diners and this place is a classic. Much better than Oscars. The Cure is great. Excellent atmosphere and service. Has what may be the last pay phone in service.
When my husband and I travel we always ask the locals for the best restaurants in town. Durango Diner was at the top of the list for most and after eating there we understood why. The food was amazing!! The Cure was my absolute favorite! I have never had green chill before but now I crave it. We returned three more times during our 8 day trip and it was just as delicious as the first. I cannot wait to go back!
Everytime I visit Durango I make it a point to get The Cure at the Diner. Deliciousness Ski Purgatory all week then breakfast before heading back to Texas
Delicious food. Great service.
