I wanted the food to be better but it was a good walk-in experience. We did not have a reservation and our party of 2 was seated at the community table. The service was pretty good. Everyone was attentive. They aren't doing the outdoor seating at this point. Overall good atmosphere and decent food.
Don’t sleep on the tiramisu.
The mafaldine with braised rabbit, carrots, and green almonds was one of the best pasta dishes I’ve ever had. Service was impeccable, wine list was compelling, and overall vibe is just right.
The service was excellent. The cocktails, especially the Paloma and Gin and Tonic were fantastic. The food was a huge let down. We got the crab spaghetti and the lobster tagliatelle. Both were lacking in flavor. They were flexible and accommodating with the vegans and nondrinkers in our group. I would go back for the service alone and give the food another shot, but was overall underwhelmed.
This might be the best restaurant in Denver. Great variety on the menu and pastas are all hand made. Several beef, lamb and seafood choices. Specialty cocktails are excellent and the staff are great.
Pretty much impossible to get in to eat mediocre at best Italian food. Not worth it!!!! There are way better restaurants in Denver!! Don't come here! Next time we'll go to Venice instead. Much better option!
Just blown away by everything here. The antipasti menu was plentiful and delicious. They had a fried seafood plate on it and I HATE fried seafood. This was so worth getting. Trust. Same goes for the crudo and the diver scallops. Always get scallops when you can.Onto the primi and secondi, I had the gnocchi which was just absolutely out of this world. The gnocchis were pillowly as it should be, and the sauce was absolutely rich and hearty. One of the best pasta dishes I’ve ever had. I tried my partner’s rigatoni and it was just absolutely perfect. Finally we had the branzino. It was perhaps the single most perfectly cooked and seasoned fish I’ve ever had. I legit teared up. Sorry but these are not hyperbole. We finished the meal with an excellent tiramisu and a cappuccino. This was just beyond perfect and absolutely deserve its name recognition.
Ordered drinks, waiter returned for order, appetizers arrived, no drinks, server said bartender was busy, drinks came halfway through appetizers, gave us bill and dessert at same time, no acknowledgement of birthday… made a deal of checking beforehand
On a recent trip to Denver where we only had one night to dine in the city, Tavernetta came up repeatedly as a highly-regarded Denver restaurant that seemed worth choosing for our one dinner. We were eager to try it based on the great reviews, and I’m happy to report that it lived up to expectations. The food, service, and ambiance were all excellent, and I’d love to come back on future trips to Denver. We visited on a Sunday night in February, and the restaurant was fully booked and crowded. We had a little trouble finding it when coming in a Lyft from our hotel. It’s adjacent to Union Station, Denver’s main train station, and I didn’t realize that all businesses near there have a standard Lyft drop-off location right in front of the train station, rather than letting us get dropped off at the restaurant itself, which was around the corner and has its own separate entrance. This was not the restaurant’s fault by any means, but I’d just make sure to be aware of where you’re being dropped off if you’re not familiar with the area. We ended up wandering around Union Station itself for a bit before pulling up Google Maps and realizing where we needed to go. We were surprised, however, at how nice Union Station and the restaurants around it seem to be. Most cities don’t have much to offer near train stations, but it’s really nice in Denver and seems to have a lot of new and interesting places positioned right there. The restaurant has a warm and trendy vibe inside. The staff members who greeted us were very friendly and took us right back to our table that was in the room just beyond the gorgeous open kitchen. I liked that the restaurant was designed with a variety of smaller, intimate rooms that all looked different and interesting. It created a homey feel, despite having an overall modern and streamlined look. Our server was very nice and attentive, as was everyone we met at the restaurant. It was very clear that there is a true commitment to hospitality from the staff here, and I love a restaurant like that. They take their craft seriously, and it shows to customers. The restaurant has a very extensive Italian-focused wine list, and if you’re willing some money to spend on a bottle, you can easily find some great options. Even at a lower budget, they have a lot. We just wanted one glass each, and went with two glasses of Barolo. It was pricey at $32 per glass, but very good. We didn’t interact directly with the sommelier, but I heard him interact with the table next to us, and I was very impressed. He was really good at helping the couple next to us figure out a good bottle for them (they didn’t seem to know much about Italian wine), and he just asked really good questions to find them something they’d enjoy. I liked that he immediately asked about price point and didn’t seem eager to upsell overly expensive wine, and he asked about other wines they like to help find something comparable. He just had a good, non-pretentious way about him. When they ask if you want bread at Tavernetta, definitely say yes. They had a house-made focaccia that was great and came out warm. We weren’t super hungry, so after that, we started with just the salame and robiola cheese, which was recommended by our server and ended up being a great cheese and charcuterie starter when we wanted something light. Both were great. For our next course, we tried two pastas, the sweet potato gnudi and the lobster tagliatelle. Both were really delicious, homemade pastas. Our server had recommended getting one other item to share, so we split the branzino, which was also perfectly prepared. We were really stuffed by that point (largely since we came still full from lunch which was a mistake), so I couldn’t appreciate it as much as I wanted to. However, the flavors, preparation, and presentation of everything were just great, and represented everything a high-end Italian restaurant should be. Since everything else was so good, we made sure to try dessert as well, and it was at the same standard as the rest of the meal. The zeppole (Italian donuts) were great, a
One of our very favorite restaurants in Denver. Consistent high-quality dishes, and friendly service. The best dish EVER is the Rigatoni Lamb Ragù.
