First time I came the food and coffee were great but service was lacking. Next time I came everything was amazing. I have loved everything I tried from the food to coffee. Definitely one of the best breakfast spots in Denver.
This place was great! Outside there is a beautiful rose garden that smells lovely. Our waiter was fantastic. I ordered the Southern Sunrise Sandwich and it was delicious. The pork was seasoned nicely. We also had the beignets with a fruit jam that were great. Would recommend.
This place is loaded with charm. Great service in a pretty neighborhood setting. We used to go to the restaurant on Colfax, but it is permanently closed. This is our first time at the 32nd Ave location, and we loved it. The Crab Cake Benedict was fabulous, and the Road King loved his Salmon Benedict. I enjoyed the carafe of Mimosa, even though I didn't realize the large mimosa was a full carafe. I was able to take the extra with me, for a walk through the neighborhood, in a ToGo cup. The Road King enjoyed his Snickerdoodle Latte too. This remains our must do Denver brunch, and we love the 32nd Ave location!
The BEST bloody Mary's EVER!!! I had a flight of 4 and they were each unique and yummmmmmmy. Lots of flavor without being too spicy. The pickled okra was the best I've ever had. Our server was awesome and the food was out of this world (shrimp and grits for the win!).
We came during a busy time (Sunday brunch) but didn’t have to wait for a table because no on else wanted the isolated patio table. We actually really liked the spot because it was secluded and quiet. However, it took a server 10 minutes to notice we were out there. When I tried to talk the hostess before that to snag a server, I waited several minutes. The hostess would seat someone and then disappear for a few minutes each time, causing a huge line at the door. I’m not sure if she’s doing two jobs or what but this place needs to figure out their service issues. Our server should have been told by the hostess that we were even out there. The theme of today was SLOW service. Our server was very slow to bring water, take our order, take plates, and bring our check. The food portions were very small for the price. I’d rather go to the diner near my house that costs the same but gives three times as much food. While I enjoyed my meal at Sassafras, I won’t make a trip back. It’s definitely not worth the 1-2 hour wait people usually encounter here.
Amazing location, beautiful decor, awesome vibes all around, especially the staff. The food was delicious but the shrimp and grits definitely didn't have enough grits. Also the shrimp were sweet, delicious, and huge, but overshadowed the thinly sliced sausage. I'm sure this was to counteract the heavy spice in the sausage but the ratio of each ingredient came off as confusing instead of balanced. However, I could taste the creativity in each ingredient and I'm definitely coming back to try more dishes!
Sassafras is a great spot for brunch. I highly recommend the breakfast mac and cheese. Add some chopped up andouille sausage to finish it right.
Such a cute place. Food was good and I had the most amazing hazelnut raspberry coffee ? staff was awesome. Come early because the line gets going pretty quick!
Had a delicious catfish Po Boy and collard greens this past weekend. Awesome list of house Bloody Marys with a variation for everyone, great NOLA/creole inspired food, and a beautiful Victorian home as a setting. The line gets pretty long around 11:30 so go on the early side.
