A great little place with a great focus on food. It’s all counter service but you get the food delivered to your table. Drinks were well made but the food itself was off the charts. Extremely flavorful and the homemade pasta is definitely something to try. I recommend that you try this place out if you’re in the neighborhood
My wife and I had never been to Dio Mio until last night when we finally got around to using our gift certificate that our son gave us for Christmas two and a half years ago! Well, the wait was really worth it. What an excellent setting with easy parking and access into the restaurant, we were promptly sat at a nice table for two and got a good explanation of the ordering process which involves going up to the counter to order.Happy hour is between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. and that worked well with us sharing a simple Caesar salad, house wine and one of their great pasta dishes. We also ordered the rigatoni with fennel sausage off the main menu and needless to say we finished the whole thing! We will definitely be back.
Saturday evening dining means a very, very long wait. We were told 45 mins yet waited over 90 minutes to get seated. Meanwhile, we could visibly see a table for 4 that was empty for most of that time. The food was good, but the Alcohol options are extremely limited and way over priced. For my first visit to Denver, I wasn't impressed. Limited menu, limited seating and getting personal service at your table shouldn't require you to keep getting in line at the bar........
It was such a pleasure to dine here. Everything I had heard about this place was true. The chef gave me a complementary sourdough and I don't have the words to express how good it was. The Stracciatella, prosciutto and the balsamic vinegar on the sourdough was finger licking good.I had ordered cucumber salad and finished the entire bowl by myself. For the mean meal I got to taste their handmade rigatoni and as expected was made with fresh ingredients. Definitely a must try if you are in Denver.
Best seafood I’ve had in Colorado. The oysters, peel and eat shrimp, and mussels are to die for. Everything we ordered was amazing. Service was great and food came out fast. Drinks were delicious too.
Im so torn with this place! It’s got some great appetizer dishes like the sourdough that is absolutely wonderful. However, the pasta never satisfies us. It’s light on sauce which I personally prefer, but sadly a lot of the sauces lack flavor. While the pasta is handmade, it’s texture is usually dry and flavorless as well. My friends and I have all tried this place a handful of times because we are so convinced that they must be good and we’re just getting a bad day. Great atmosphere and yummy apps, but sadly no pasta dish has wowed us.
The broccoli with cheese sauce, pickled stems and fried onions is worthy of a whole meal! The broccoli is charred, a bit smoky and spiced with a little red pepper flakes. The cheese sauce is silky and rich and the pickled broccoli stems add a nice counterpoint to the creaminess. Fried onions add texture and delicious flavor. WOW.
Great food with great service! I’d say the music was a little too loud. We were sitting for awhile not knowing we had to order at the bar because our server was explaining how to but the music over powered her voice, but besides that the food and drinks were great!!
I visited Denver and came here. The spaghetti and meatballs were phenomenal ! I studied abroad in Italy and this dish was up to that standard. I went to another place at home the next night to compare because it was just so good and it just didn’t compare…
This is a very long overdue review, as we visited here 3ish years ago. Ha! When we talk about memories from our Denver trip our meal at Dio Mio ALWAYS gets brought up. “And then we had a deliiiiciiooooous meal there”. I ordered the rotolo (pictured here) and to this day my tastebuds can recreate the memory of that dish in great detail.
