First impressions, this little restaurant is understated. We ordered the margarita flight, which was fantastic. Once consumed, we each ordered a margarita that we enjoyed from the flight. The food was good, just limited variety. We will return!
We were disappointed in our evening at Barbed Wire. Though the food was wonderful, the service was slow, and the alcohol was overpriced. I don't think $13 for a glass of inexpensive chardonnay is a bit much. Also, the beer was pricey. We won't be back.
The flavors were definitely there. I loved the small bit of heat in the back of my throat and the sweetness of my margarita. Personally, though, I'm not a big fan of cold nachos. We hadn't been sitting long enough for them to be as cold as they were. It felt like they put cold chips on the plate and added room-temperature cheese sauce on top. The shredded cheese wasn't even melted. It might have helped if they had put the plate in the oven for just a moment. On top of everything, the vegetables in my guacamole were old and rotting. My partner got a mix and match of the tacos and enjoyed some, but not all. They said the octopus was really fishy and the mahi-mahi was tasteless. The El Pastor taco was only saved by the pickled onions, thankfully covering the flavors in the meat.I understand that we came a little later in the evening, but an empty restaurant on a Saturday night over a holiday weekend is never a good sign. Lastly, the server brought us the "wrong" check overcharging us over $20 for items we didn't order, then I tried to defend the check she gave us saying we should have expected the up charges.I was trying to give this restaurant the benefit of the doubt, but I couldn't finish my food and we both feel sick now.
Gator taco was great, also enjoyed the margarita flight
Had a last minute reservation for a family dinner so made a switch to Barbed Wire Reef. They were very accommodating for a party of 12. The food was great I had an assorted array of tacos and the chicharrons (highly recommend these!!!) Don't let the menu scare you, there are still beef and chicken options, but if you are feeling ready to get out of your comfort zone the selections are great. My only complain with the tacos is that they were not that filling (3 tacos: Shrimp, Alligator & Tuna) so I'm glad I ordered the chicharrons as well! The margaritas were good, go for the flight to try a good variety, tamarind and the jalapina were my favorites.
Food was good. Drinks were tasty. The food service was slow but server was great.
Delicious tacos, awesome patio, great service! There was a jalapeño drink w/ coconut rum that was wonderful. Definitely will be back!
To even begin to describe all the flavors I experienced would not do this restaurant justice.Delicious!!! I've never heard of a place having bottomless micheladas for brunch and was a little anxious to try it here. Yes, I'm picky but that's because I feel like I've had the best! Hands down, they make this like your abuelo used to before your abuelita saved him from the streets.I'm sure you've had chilaquiles before where there's always a big tostada on the bottom and its hard to pick up let alone fit all in your mouth. Barbed Wire Reef just changed the game with thin, long pieces of tostada that are then piled high with flavors ranging from mild to knock your socks off fire. Did I mention that they have 7 different kinds?! I asked the bartender/server/ninja Brittany who the chefs are. It was nice to put a face to these creative geniuses. Thank you Alan and Mario!I'm thankful I was able to try chilaquiles they way they're supposed to be made. I'll be back!
We came for the Bingo, but the food, drinks and service were amazing!
Good ambiance, food was okay - they just slopped meat without anything else on one of my friends tacos. Service was sub par, wait staff barely came to check on the table and it wasn’t busy.
