Our waitress (Amanda, I think) was excellent. She was working a somewhat big section alone, and she was on-point with our service. My husband is a little picky about his toast, and usually waitresses get it wrong, even though he is specific, clear, and emphatic. He even has a photo on his phone of how dark he likes his toast. Nine times out of 10, they will bring barely browned toast. He has to send it back, and it arrives too late for him to enjoy with his meal. Amanda got it perfectly the first time. It's been a while since that has happened. My meal was perfect, too!The only bad thing I overheard was that a table of 5 walked out without paying, and Amanda said the Village Inn makes the waitress pay for walk-outs! FIVE people! If this is VI policy, it must stop. What a terrible thing!
So I attempted to substitute a supreme item for the UIB, and was told by the waitress that she couldn't ring it up that way and I would have to order a fourth item from the original items. Continued to argue with me that it was just best to do it that way because the register wouldn't ring it up. I refused to order and after calling over the manager was told it was all taken care of. Great. Shouldn't have been an argument in the first place. What happened to the "Customer is always right."?
Probably need to contact a Regional Manager, or better yet, Corporate Headquarters. This store (Woodmen, Colorado Springs) is being ran for the convenience of management; and Not for Consumers. When I walked in, I Noticed ALL the customers were Corralled into one small section of the lovely Restaurant. I would have to Wait 20 minutes, because the store was Staffed with Only one Server. If you check recent reviews, you will see this is not uncommon.I went directly across the street to a Gunther Toody's, that I had Never visited. They had Five visible Servers. My Server also had a trainee Very nice meal . VI is apparently in crisis. Be Warned.
My boyfriend loves the breakfast food and the waitress was absolutely wonderful , will go again 10/10
So the food is pretty good and the servers are always great! But this spot has gone downhill for a while in cleanliness to the point where I almost cringe to think what goes on with food storage and preparation. Today we got a glimpse of the possibilities since we were seated near the kitchen. Just the entry is caked in dust, grease, and debris. What could be seen of the back wall, near what I assume is a fryer, is covered in food and yellow grease. Even the vacuum, which is rarely used based on what rhe carpets look like, is covered in dust and dirt and whatever else. To be honest, I'm not convinced that this place could pass a health inspection, so management may want to come out from the back to clean a little instead of popping out briefly to complain about the 12 top that walked in.
scrambled eggs came with burnt pieces of I don't know ....Corn beef hash was not cooked . Sent it back only to wait almost 15 min .Even had to ask manager where the meal even was.... Everyone was done with meal . Had to eat alone. Not a good way to treat someone to a birthday breakfast. Should be more aware of cooking meals right.
Still the best pancakes. Smaller, but still great. And the pies! Gotta love the pies!Had the best waitress and a wonderful time with my daughter who lives there in the Springs. Wish we still had one of these in Lubbock, Texas.
Finally, had the chance to eat at this Village Inn. The Village Inn near my home shut down almost a year ago. The food was above par, very delicious. The point I'd like to make is that we had a marvelous waitress named Michelle. She was fantastic! My wife kept commenting, "This lady loves her job". She made us feel very comfortable. Thank you, Michelle
Overall, our large party with kids had a great experience. Eugene was a great server and very attentive and had the forethought to split our checks up early so we wouldn't have any issues at the end.Food isn't anywhere near fantastic or incredible, but you should already know that when coming to Village Inn. The food was good, just not mind-blowing (and probably never will be). No one in our party disliked anything. If I'm being picky, I might point out that the fries were kind of soggy.Fish and chips were cooked perfectly, the pancakes and waffles were all fine, and everyone loved their skillets + burrito. The front of house of the restaurant was clean (minus some crumbs on the seats that we had to wipe off) and the kitchen looked like it was clean at a passing glance.Only reason I'm going to knock a star is because the bathrooms (men's and women's - according to my wife) were both gross. For the men's bathroom, it almost seemed like someone attempted to clean them or started to clean them and then got grossed out and left. A wipe + the toilet seat covers were a must.Tl;dr: food + service are fine... clean the bathrooms more.
Short-staffed made for a long wait even though it was not busy at all. Meal was good though. Bathroom was gross. The smell about made me throw up my breakfast I had just ate. Smelled like sewerage.
