I was so excited to try this place, but am sadly disappointed. The Gentleman was SUPER nice, but unfortunately my fried chicken tasted like fried fish so I was unable to eat/enjoy it :(
The food is amazing & the customer service is great!! Probably the best oxtails I’ve had since living in the Springs.
That was my first time ordering from the food truck and I must say everything that I got was delicious!! I forgot to take pictures of my food.. sorry.. but I order the fried chicken sandwich, peach cobbler, sweet potato fries, and a lemonade.. The man taking my order was super helpful!!
Food is great!! I eat healthy. They offer the healthy option and cooks it that way. Very friendly people. Vest soul food in the springs. Love y'all from your mail carrier! ?
This really hit the spot. Fried Chicken and baked beans with fries. After I took the picture I blasted everything with hot sauce, but that's just how I do it. He must use molasses in those baked beans because they are like candy; hit the spot.
Came in to try this place while we were in town. The Mac and cheese was over cooked and separated. The banana pudding was sour and tasted spoiled. When my husband called to ask for a replacement the manager wasn’t helpful. When my husband went down to the restaurant to get a replacement or refund he was literally chased out of the store and was screamed at. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS.
Run! Don't walk! Get ya some of that home cooking!!!o.m.g...this place is THE BEST southern food in the Springs! Actually...best home cooked food period! I'm from the south and am a good cook myself. I'm usually disappointed when I try out restaurants like this here. Just restaurants in general lately are having a tough time keeping the quality of their food. I had the fried catfish, red beans and rice, Mac n cheese, and banana pudding. It was all to die for. The outside of the catfish was crispy and the inside was flaky perfection. Some of the best catfish I've had.... anywhere.. not just Colorado. The hush puppies were on point and so we're the sides. I asked for hot sauce, but I didn't need it.. everything was seasoned perfectly. Not spicy, but with a good amount of savory spice. The nana pudding was so damn good too! I tried to save some for my husband...but it didn't happen! ? I will definitely be back. Bringing my family in tow!
PLUG THIS PLACE INTO YOUR GPS. NOW. Hands down the best SOUL food in town. Billy, owner/operator, is a veteran, not only such a nice guy but invites you to chat and watch as prepares your meal, in one of the cleanest, most organized kitchens I've ever seen! Portions HUGE. HOMEMADE!! Sheesh, homemade pot mash, gravy, mac&cheese melts in mouth. Pulled pork and chicken juicy, best BBQ sauce, and gently toasted bun with care. Seriously. Generous portions with FAIR price. Needs to charge more. He runs bbq side and partner runs seafood side. Can't wait to return for that. JUST MAKE THE TRIP. WORTH EVERY PENNY AND MORE.
The food here is authentic. It is amazing. It is delicious. It is most certainly worth the money and the trip. It's a little different of an experience than I am accustomed to but at the end of the day, I want good food more than anything else, and this place delivered. I got the catfish sandwich, collard greens, and a sweet tea. Loved it. Sweet tea was a different recipe than I am used to but it was actually enjoyable. Had a hint of licorice to it maybe? Anyways, you won't be let down if you love southern food.
Soothed the soul after a tough week. (I thought it was Tuesday, apparently it's Wednesday.) Definitely recommend when looking for true southern food while in Colorado Springs. Take out only, which meant we could enjoy it in a cozy, relaxing place...home.The crisp breading of the fried chicken was heaven. Seasoned, crunchy, and perfectly cooked bird underneath.Delicious collards, wonderfully cooked. Plenty of flavor even without prevalent, or easy to spot, pork. (It may have just been the serving.) The greens were inhaled in an instant.The mac and cheese had fantastic flavor. Real cheese in a traditional fashion. Also inhaled quickly along side the cornbread (nice texture and perfect flavor).Thank you for saving my week. Looking forward to trying more menu items. I'm so grateful we found you!
