The menu looks so appetizing but unfortunately the food is extremely low quality. Our meals came out very cold and the sides were very small portions. Our server was nice but very slow. I was extremely disappointed considering we paid $100 for a family of 5 and how low quality the food was. I will never be coming back to on the border. There are so many Mexican restaurants that are very tasty and worth the money. On the border is not one of them.
As expected but not wanted. We haven't been to On The Border in over ten years. Why? The last meal we had there was not freshly made at all. It tasted like yesterdays left overs. We decided not to go back again.Fast forward 11 years and we found ourselves totally exhausted after a day of shopping. Right across the street from where we were was OTB. We decided to try it again figuring things surely must have improved. We were wrong. If anything, things were worse.Walked in and the place was almost empty so no wait for a table. The server we had was not the most polite young girl but she took our drink orders and left. Came back a few minutes later with two overflowing beverages and took our order. The sticky mess on our table from our drinks made it very uncomfortable sitting there. When I asked her for a wet rag to clean it up she got very upset. Came back with a wet moldy towel and handed it to me. I wasn't about to touch it so we just picked up our stuff and moved to another table. We really should have left. When she came back with our food she was visibly upset that we moved. I explained that it shouldn't have been necessary to have us clean the table. We were very polite to her figuring maybe she had a bad day.To continue, our food came out very fast after we ordered it. One bite and I knew it wasn't fresh. Nobody could have made our orders that quickly from scratch. The lettuce and tomatoes were hot and the inside of the burrito was cold. A definite nuke job on some old food. So, all in all, another bad experience. What really upset me is the fact Colorado Springs has many amazing Mexican restaurants and like an idiot I picked a bad, fake one.Diner, beware.
WARNING: Raw chicken!!! Disgusted by this place (Barnes Rd, Colorado Springs). On Friday, May 13 a group of us went to the Barnes location to celebrate a friends bday. At first, we sat outside and the server was great. (Cute girl with blonde-ish red hair with a nose piercing.) We then moved inside because it was cold. The server (Daniel) wasn’t great and the worst thing about our evening, was I ate RAW CHICKEN, and the manager didn’t seem to genuinely care. I took the last bite of my chicken and noticed it didn’t taste right and the last piece was raw. I’m disgusted that I ate raw chicken. The manager came over and had the audacity to say, “just because a piece of chicken was raw doesn’t mean the whole chicken was raw.” “Oh yea, that’s raw. I’m sorry.” He didn’t take into account that I ate a piece of raw chicken . The manger was a middle aged man with glasses. Horrible I will NEVER return to this restaurant or any of the On The Boarder restaurants.
First time ever on the border, felt so authentic! queso chickens was so delicious and our server Jessica made the trip out of my house worth it, nacho mama! only complaint was the host a little weird, but everything else made up for it! recommend coming in here for jess and the food!!!!!
My girlfriend and I showed up an hour before they closed. Having worked in service before I know how frustrating it can be to get last minute customers. The staff here treated us very well. Our server, Adrian, was incredibly attentive and did a fantastic job. The food quality was top notch as well so the cooks in the back made sure they were still on their A game for us. Top tier highly recommend.
3/3/22 at 630. Despite the dining room being nearly empty we had to wait 20 minutes for a table. After we sat at a table it was another 10 minutes until the waiter came. He brought water and said he would be back with chips. We waited another 10 minutes and left after the waiter never returned. We've been eating here for several years. I don't feel the need to ever go back.
The food was delicious and our server was great! The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because of a cook. I don't know who the gentleman was, but if you're going to have a large open window into the kitchen, all the kitchen staff should have gloves on. This guy was grabbing cheese and sprinkling it on food with out gloves. He'd touch his face to adjust his glasses then work on a plate. Not really what I wanted to see.
This is currently my favorite Mexican restaurant! Love Fajita night and happy hour Wednesday nights. New margarita specials each month are fun. The staff is friendly and the food is great!
Not impressed with the quality, temperature, or portion size of the food for the high cost here. The chips and salsa were good and enjoyed the 2 sopapilla dish. But overall this seems like a very sad establishment, the indoor plants looked horrible and what seemed to be high turnover with staff as the guy waiting was mentioning it was only his 3rd day. Lastly the booths were gross and couldnt adjust for different sizes of people. Will visit other location instead next time.
Our food for the most part was good. I ordered the big Borderito. My wife, ordered a combo with an enchilada, salad, Chile relleno, and taco. She was happy with her meal however, she said this was the worst enchilada she's ever had.
