My sister and I stayed at Glen Eyrie June 9 & 10, 2022. It was the last leg of our visit to the Colorado Springs area. We had driven back from the Mt Princeton Hot Springs resort and arrived mid-afternoon. The check-in process was smooth and at that time, we signed out a deck of UNO cards. There was a nice selection of board games to choose from. Our room was in the Oaks Lodge. The room was fine. This lodge appears older than some of the other ones that I passed by on some hikes, but it had an outside table and chairs on the lower level where we enjoyed the quiet and played UNO. The grounds were beautiful as well as the castle and the Carriage House, where the office and bookstore are located. We took a few hikes and those were very well marked, both on the map provided and by markers. We also walked around the grounds to enjoy the quiet. We had breakfast one day and it was very good. One of the main reasons we stayed there was the proximity of the property to Garden of the Gods. Unfortunately, there was some road work happening on the connector road, so we had a detour, but it was not a big deal. The detour forced us up a hill through a residential area that had a view of the Kissing Camels formation in the Garden of the Gods park. We saw the wild turkeys and the big-horn sheep roaming around. We felt very safe there with the gatehouse. We walked around the first floor of the castle as that was all we were allowed to check out, but it was beautiful. I would certainly stay here again if I am ever out to the area.

I would give this place a 6 if I could. The location is Ed up by lovely rooms and amazing service. Note that this is a non profit religious retreat so no alcohol or smoking on site, it we never felt any pressure or exclusion at not being part of the religious retreat. Breakfast was amazing and the rest of the holiday had a lot to live up to with this being our first proper stay. Walking distance from garden of the gods. Rudy’s BBQ worth a visit.

One of the most interesting places to visit in Colorado Springs. Just north of Garden of the Gods. Built from imported materials by a turn of the century railroad owner Lots of native wildlife to be seen. Mountain goats. Wild turkeys. Bears. Impressive hiking trails with great views. A nice coffee bar where you can get your favorite latte. The food in the dining hall is tasty and well prepared. Various lodging on the property and you can stay in the castle if you like. An excellent place for a personal or group spiritual retreat.

My daughter and I visited Glen Eyrie in early June, 2022, for Afternoon Tea and enjoyed everything about our visit. The food, and especially the tea, was wonderful. We also enjoyed a lovely stroll on the castle grounds from the main castle to the carriage house now gift shop, where we were delighted to purchase the yummy tea we had just enjoyed.

We had a wonderful time at Glen Eyrie. We stayed at one of the lodges, and it felt remote and was very quiet. It was hard to believe that we were only a few minutes from the city. The scenery with the rock formations and the beautiful improvements to the property, the three deer running across the lawn right in front of us, not to mention the delicious breakfast in the castle in the morning all added up to a memorable stay. Even more impressive was the tour, with Lisa as our guide. Lisa was simply the perfect guide, knowing not just about how the castle came to be, but the history of the area, and all about founder, General William Jackson Palmer and his family. Lisa was so knowledgeable about the process of building the castle and showed us so many amazing inventions from General Palmer that were installed and used in the castle. The tour was one of the best we have ever been on and it was obvious that many people value their connection to the property.

I have stayed in quite a few castles in Europe. This castle in Colorado is one of the best I have seen, shaming the European castles. It hasn't been ruined by too much modernization. Instead, it is decorated in the time period it was built, the early 1900's. It is exquisite. The hosts are gracious and knowledgeable. Breakfast is a generous and delicious buffet with something for everyone. If you stay you get to wander the castle to your heart's content. You also get to wander miles of hiking paths dotted with Garden of the Gods type rock formations. We were in Colorado for 7 days and Glen Eyrie was the best part of our trip.

Some of the most gorgeous landscape I have seen in Colorado and it’s a must see. Stay in one of the lodges or the castle, but you need to walk around as much as possible and take in the views. It is nestled in amongst the Garden of the Gods rock formations. I will be back!!

Beautiful location! However, our experience left a little to be desired. We booked one lodge but were moved to another without notice. The room we were in was similar to a very low grade motel. Stained carpets, paper shades that didn’t work too well, and bare minimum amenities. That being said, the staff was very helpful when asked. Pros: views, trails, location and history Cons: not as portrayed unless you stay in the castle Perhaps some may not mind a lesser room with the view of nature, but if you are looking for a luxury stay, this is not it.

The grounds, staff and views were all outstanding. We had a great tea but had even more fun walking around the castle and taking photos. The Property was well maintained and peaceful. If we had worn different shoes it looks like we could have gotten in a nice hike/walk as well. Bookstore had a nice selection and the terrace was great for enjoying the views.

The grounds are absolutely gorgeous. My husband and I paid for the tour so we could hike on the property all day. We did all of the trails that were available. We packed our lunch and made a day of it. We climbed up the cliffs near the Big Horns. They also had wild turkeys and deer on the property. I wish the passes were free though.
